Reviews designs, tests and assesses materials, and performs necessary data collection and calculations in areas such as traffic forecasting, soil capacity, groundwater analysis, and structure design. Being a Civil Engineer responsibilities also include estimating costs, estimating personnel and material needs, preparing proposals, and establishing completion dates. May also assist in inspecting aging infrastructure or overseeing improvement projects. Additionally, Civil Engineer requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. May require a Professional Engineer License (PE). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Civil Engineer work is closely managed. Description
We are seeking an entry-level civil engineer to join our engineering team. In this position you will be exposed to a wide-range of highway planning and engineering projects where you will have the opportunity to utilize your knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures to complete your assigned tasks in a team environment. During the construction season you may also have an opportunity to gain valuable experience in the field working with our construction services team to complete construction observation, inspection, and administration of WisDOT roadway and bridge construction transportation projects.
