Civil Engineer designs and supervises construction projects such as airports, bridges, channels, dams, railroads, or roads. Reviews designs, tests and assesses materials, and performs necessary data collection and calculations in areas such as traffic forecasting, soil capacity, groundwater analysis, and structure design. Being a Civil Engineer responsibilities also include estimating costs, estimating personnel and material needs, preparing proposals, and establishing completion dates. May also assist in inspecting aging infrastructure or overseeing improvement projects. Additionally, Civil Engineer requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. May require a Professional Engineer License (PE). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Civil Engineer work is closely managed.   • Morrison-Maierle has an exciting opportunity for an entry Civil Engineer to join our Land Development Market Group in our Kalispell and Missoula, Montana office. 

    This is a full-time position, but for the right individual a 30-hour part-time position would be considered. 


    Entry Civil Engineer

    Opportunity

    This position will be working under the direction of project managers to provide design support for civil engineering projects. 

     

    Depending on experience, tasks may include performing design calculations, project planning, development, and design; funding procurement; preparation of technical reports; preparation of construction plans and specifications; construction inspection and/or administration; site visits; collection of field data; working on a survey crew; and public presentations.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology or equivalent.  

     

    Entry Level:  0 to 4 years of experience.  Engineer Intern certification, or ability to obtain one within 6 months.

     

    Value added skills or certifications could include:

    • AutoCAD Civil 3D roadway, utilities, site grading design
    • SketchUp and/or Autodesk Revit modeling and/or design experience
    • Experience in remote sensing applications; sUAS/drone, LiDAR scanning, photogrammetry data collection, reduction, and analysis
    • Surveying/construction staking experience
    • Construction background or construction inspection experience
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel and Word.

     

    High level of personal responsibility and accountability. Interpersonal skills to meet and communicate effectively with employees, managers, and clients.     Positive attitude and professional bearing.  Strong written and verbal communication skills.

     

    This position will require periodic travel and must have a valid driver license and insurable driving record.

    Salary

    $55,000 - $70,000/year (depending on experience)
