The City of Keene’s Public Works Department is looking for an individual to join their Engineering Division as a Civil Engineer! This position performs planning, project development, design, cost estimation, permitting, layout work and budget monitoring for environmental, stormwater, water, sewer, street and other City projects and programs!
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Manages, coordinates, and oversees the work of outside engineering consultants and surveyors and reviews and implements the engineering recommendations prepared by outside consultants for various infrastructure systems.
• Develops, manages, and monitors long-term Public Infrastructure improvement plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Designs project plans, prepares cost estimates, specifications, and contract documents for a variety of public infrastructure projects including, but not limited to, water distribution, sewer collections and drainage systems, roads, bridges, structures, dams, trails, and parks and other City projects and programs.
• Plans and conducts robust community engagement using a variety of formats and media, including public presentations, individual meetings, social media, public opinion polls, and newspaper and radio interviews.
• Performs inspections on City projects and Planning Board site plans for compliance with City standards.
Note: This position is subject to standby duty and call-back during non-regular working hours, weekends, and holidays. During the construction season and emergency response events, this position is subject to longer working hours. Public meetings, presentations, and City Council meetings, as needed, are scheduled outside of regular working hours.
Requirements include, but are not limited to:
• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering plus 3-5 years of professional civil engineering experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering examination is required, and the Professional Engineer’s License in the State of NH is desired!
• Proficiency in using computer-aided design (AutoCAD Civil 3D) as well as various engineering software applications such as ArcGIS, HydroCAD, WaterCAD, and SewerCAD.
Salary and Benefits include:
• This full-time position offers a salary range of $71,064- $88,559 annually.
