Civil Engineering Supervisor supervises a team of civil engineers who design and develop construction projects such as airports, bridges, channels, dams, railroads, and roads. Ensures maintenance of equipment and adherence to safety prevention measures. Being a Civil Engineering Supervisor monitors personnel needs and schedules staff accordingly. Also responsible for preparing proposals, establishing completion dates and cost estimates, and evaluation results. Additionally, Civil Engineering Supervisor requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Typically requires the Certified Professional Engineer (PE) credential. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Has no authority for staff actions. Generally has a minimum of 2 years experience as an individual contributor.     Overview of Position

    Osborn is looking for a mid-level Civil Engineer who will report to the Manager of Civil Engineering and is able to prepare engineering calculations, draft construction plans, manage projects engineering tasks, and assist Project Managers with communications and design coordination. This position can lead to additional opportunities for growth in project management and leadership for candidates who demonstrate exceptional organizational, technical, and communication skills.

These teams are comprised of a staff of 300 plus professionals that provide designs for all phases of a wide range of projects. Osborn has specialists in civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and life safety, technology engineering, transportation, and commissioning.     Our civil engineering practice includes design projects in diverse markets including site development, redevelopment, public utilities, water resources, sports facilities, broadcast infrastructure, master planning and pavement management.

     

     

    Position Responsibilities:

     

    • Prepare and review designs and specifications for civil projects
    • Prepare and review construction documents and permit submittals
    • Coordinate with other design disciplines, e.g., architects and engineers
    • Document design changes and communications
    • Manage small to medium projects and engineering tasks
    • Assist with the management of project delivery, invoicing, and financial performance
    • Assist with the development of scope, budget, and schedule for new projects and tasks
    • Maintain excellent client relations
    • Conduct on-site inspections as needed

     

     

    Job Requirements/Qualifications

     

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, or related field, from an EAC/ABET accredited program
    • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam passed (plus)
    • 5 to 10 years of relevant design or construction experience
    • Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment (plus)
    • Excellent technical writing, organizational, and communications skills
    • AutoCAD, proficient level
    • Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, etc., proficient level
    • Civil 3D or Infrastructure Suite, proficient level (plus)
    • Hydrology/hydraulic software, proficient level (plus)
    • GIS software including ESRI, all levels (plus)
