Claims Investigator jobs in Charlotte, NC

The Claims Investigator examines, and authorizes insurance claims investigated by insurance adjusters. Reviews, evaluates and processes insurance claims and makes recommendations for resolution. Being a Claims Investigator has contact with agents, claimants, and policy holders. Studies reports prepared by adjusters and similar claims to determine the extent of insurance coverage and validity of the claim. In addition, Claims Investigator determines settlement according to organization practices and procedures. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Being a Claims Investigator works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed.   • ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Investigate insurance claims to find extra policies providing coverage, including personal injury matters, workers’ compensation, general liability, and property and casualty.
    • Investigate accident scenes, locate witnesses and parties to the incident, talk to ADA’s and law enforcement regarding their investigations, and run asset checks on defendants.
    • Prepare and file comprehensive investigative reports using the information that was collected from audio or video surveillance, photos, interviews, database research and investigations.
    • Provide legal testimony if required.
    • The majority of the work can be done during business hours, but there are times when after hours might be required. Our business hours are 8:30 - 5:30. 
    • Ability to work remotely from a home office, but might need to come into the office as needed.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • This position is ideal for retired law enforcement or military investigators.
    • Flexibility to work varied and irregular hours and days.
    • Ability to drive to locations for investigations.
    • Complete other duties as assigned in a timely fashion.

    Job Type: Part-time

    Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

    Willingness to travel:

    • 75% (Required)
