    The working environment you can expect:
    The working social environment will center around telework. Regular attendance at daily/weekly meetings will be essential to stay abreast of ongoing projects. 
    This position is being recruited as a dual-location recruitment, and can be at either the 333 Willoughby Ave, 5th floor in Juneau, or 550 West 7th Ave, 12th Floor in Anchorage.  The daily work environment is a computer/technology or business office environment.  We offer flexibility and value work/ life balance:
    • A hybrid telework schedule may be an option once initial training is complete.
    • We offer a flex time arrangement, which allows you to earn additional leave time during heavy workload times.
    • We’ll work with you on schedule adjustments for special situations.

    • Systems Testing and Evaluation: Knowledge of principles, methods, and tools for analyzing and developing systems testing and evaluation procedures and technical characteristics of IT systems, including identifying critical operational issues.
    • Web Technology: Knowledge of the principles and methods of web technologies, tools, and delivery systems, including web security, privacy policy practices, and user interface issues.

    • Operating Systems: Knowledge of computer network, desktop, and mainframe operating systems and their applications.
     
    • Systems Integration: Knowledge of the principles, methods, and procedures for installing, integrating, and optimizing information systems components.
     
    Equivalent to those typically gained by:
     
    Training in computer science, information technology, or system administration – or a similar field or professional experience – that provided knowledge of systems, networking software, hardware, protocols, and scripting/automation tools.

    Systems Programmer 2
    Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:
     
    • Hardware: Knowledge of specifications, uses, and types of computer or computer-related equipment.
     
    • Infrastructure Design: Knowledge of the architecture and typology of software, hardware, and networks, including LANS, WANS, and telecommunications systems, their components and associated protocols and standards, and how they operate and integrate with one another and with associated controlling software.

    APSIN CLEARANCE
    Due to the nature of the work of the Office of Information Technology and access to Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN) at the workplace, the individual who is selected for this position will be required to pass a background investigation and may be re-fingerprinted. Full disclosure of ALL past criminal convictions (both misdemeanor and felony including suspended impositions of sentence) at the time of application is required. Convictions may lead to disqualification due to the requirements necessary to access these systems.

    Employment with the Office of Information Technology is contingent upon successfully completing and maintaining an APSIN background check and security clearance conducted by the Department of Public Safety. Fingerprinting is required.
