Logistician/ Asset Manager

    NexGen Data Systems is seeking a Data Center Logistician/Asset Manager to focus on material movement/management within an enterprise data center. The ideal candidate will have the ability to execute and manage the installation, removal and DRMO of equipment within data centers located in New Orleans, LA, Charleston, SC, Millington, TN and Kansas City, MO. This position is 100% on-site in Charleston, SC with remote work as needed.


    Roles and Responsibilities:

    • The key responsibilities for this position will be to receive/ship material, track and validate all hardware assets and conduct asset management of upcoming minor property tagging requirements, and the disposal of material according to NIWC DRMO policy.
    • Maintain cleanliness of the data center (remove boxes, organize equipment etc.).
    • This role will include physical movement of hardware at multiple locations.
    • This position requires a motivated and attentive team player with a detailed understanding of logistical requirements for government customers.
    • This role will work closely with program and contractor staff with backgrounds that include logistics, engineering, network, development and program management. Individuals must be proactive, and be able to collaborate, document, present, and disseminate information to peers and customers as required.
    • Plans, develops and executes Logistics program activities
    • Preparation of outgoing shipments and retrieval of small incoming shipments from Trident warehouse location.
    • Maintain Microsoft Access registries to include the HAR (Hardware Assets Registry), SAR (Software Assets Registry), SRR (Shipment Request Registry, GAR Laptop (GFE Asset Registry) and perform asset transfers in CMPRO Product Lifecycle Management Software.
    • Issue and retrieve laptops from large support team and manage inventory of all assets.
    • Account for and track all daily work activities in approved customer ticketing systems (Such as ServiceNow, JIRA, Confluence).
    • Ensure the existence and validate the condition of all items on the personal property database detailed listing. • Confirm the accuracy of the data in the database (e.g., description of the item, serial number, bar code, make, model, manufacture year, and location).
    • Annotate missing/erroneous information on the physical inventory worksheet and the database updated as required.
    • Maintain minor property list (including internal components of hardware devices) and request removal of items from list in Navy ERP as required (e.g. clerical mistakes made by minor property office).
    • Conduct annual physical inventory of all government furnished equipment.
    • Ensure all custodial transfers and RMAs are completed and tracked appropriately in Navy ERP.
    • Maintain records of transfers and RMAs to provide in the event a paperwork discrepancy exists.
    • Move inventory and materials throughout the data center.
    • Assist teams with mounting equipment in/out of racks.
    • Handle delicate and sensitive products with utmost care.
    • Process inventory for deliveries/pickups.
    • Sort, organize, and store inventory in proper location.
    • Package items and label correctly.
    • Report damaged or missing inventory to supervisors.
    • Stack and organize large bulk items.
    • Handle and operate necessary tools and accessories in maintaining and managing a datacenter.
    • Remove inventory from trucks for shipping and/or delivery.
    • Move materials from storage to pick-up area or other locations.
    • Prepare outgoing shipments.
    • Process equipment for DRMO (validate ownership, removal of media, sanitize of all classification)
    • Ensure workspace is free of debris and remove safety hazards.
    • Keep datacenter premises neat and clean.
    • Work as an active team member to complete team goals
    • Update logs and documentation for inventory processing
    • Assist in organizing and maintaining up to date records of inventory.
    • Prepare documentation and inventory for audits.
    • Integrate best practices in handling materials.
    • Be able to lift 50 lbs
    • Travel as required to New Orleans, LA, Kansas City, MO, and Millington, TN.

    • Must have ability to maintain a security clearance.
    • 8 years of professional experience in supporting a DoD organization in logistics/procurement/asset management/administrative support
    • Experience must include at least 4 years in logistics Ability to work cooperatively in a fast-paced, multi-functional team environment.
    • A strong sense of urgency including self-governance on task priority.
    • Eagerness to learn with a quality-driven, detailed focus is essential.
    • Ability to collaborate with awareness and responsiveness to customer needs.
    • Commitment to continuous development and improvement.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
    • Project management experience is a strong plus with the ability to multitask daily.
    • Must be a self-starter, quick learner with independent work style which requires minimal supervision.
    • Experience in workflow development preferred.
    • Previous experience working in a corporate environment is desired.
    • Familiarity with EMS Inventory Management Software preferred.
    • Must have reliable transportation.
    • High School Diploma/GED.
