Being a Clinical Educator conducts research to stay current with health care regulations and best practices. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Clinical Educator requires certification as an instructor for both ACLS and BLS. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Clinical Educator occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. The ideal Obstetrics Clinical Educator will have Labor and Delivery experience from an acute care facility. Experience as a charge nurse, unit supervisor, educator, or well-tenured Labor and Delivery RN will provide a strong background for a candidate looking to pursue this role. The Labor and Delivery educator will play a crucial role in training and guiding nurses to provide the highest level of patient care with the best in evidence-based practices. Additional job responsibilities include curriculum development, plan & supervising clinical rotations, offer guidance and mentorship to new nurses, and ensure regulatory requirements.
The Clinical Educator of Obstetrics will be joining a 200 patient bed, short term acute care, Joint Commission Accredited Hospital. This Clinical Educator will be joining a department that consists of a Level IV NICU, labor and delivery rooms, antepartum rooms, triage rooms, and post-partum rooms. The Labor and Delivery Nurse Educator will provide trainings for anywhere from 30-60 employees including Registered Nurses, Techs, and Support Staff and will report to the Manager of Women & Infant Services.
