Being a Clinical Educator conducts research to stay current with health care regulations and best practices. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Clinical Educator requires certification as an instructor for both ACLS and BLS. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Clinical Educator occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. The Nurse Educator is responsible for facilitating the development of clinical excellence in the Surgical Services Department through active participation in orientation, training/role transition, internships/externships, career development, continuing education/continued competence and academic partnerships.
Job responsibilities for this role include integrating current published research and literature into all learning activities, maintaining knowledge of national and local trends in nursing practice, creating, planning, and implementing orientation for individuals new to the nursing unit/department. This RN Educator will also be responsible for creating and coordinating activities related to training of new graduate nurses, and participating in Committees, Task Forces, meetings and activities to represent Nursing Education and contribute to the attainment of the Nursing Department goals as objectives. This is a M-F, 7 am - 3:30 pm position in which you have oversight of 11 state-of-the-art OR's.
