Clinical Outcomes Analyst collects clinical outcomes data and performs analysis in support of clinical process improvement initiatives. Gathers data on performance metrics to facilitate the review of program effectiveness. Being a Clinical Outcomes Analyst evaluates and summarizes patient data to ensure that care is provided in accordance with clinical guidelines and organizational standards. Identifies areas for improvement and communicates findings to leadership. Additionally, Clinical Outcomes Analyst requires a bachelor's degree in nursing or healthcare related area. JOB SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The IT Clinical Informatics Analyst will be responsible for providing support to multi-users (nursing, providers, clinicians, health care workers, and support services) to improve and enhance patient information data and clinical services. Provides continuous support, troubleshooting and identifying opportunities for end users and information technology services including but not limited to, analytics, decision support, workflow support in service of the quality and patient safety goals of Regional One Health. Utilizes resources and managed service providers to promptly resolve issues.
STRATEGY
· Serves as the liaison for health IT efforts representing nursing and clinician needs.
· Incorporates nursing research and evidence-based nursing knowledge into nursing informatics practice.
· Works with clinical and IT team members in evaluating the effectiveness of technologies and workflows that impact clinical users.
· Applies human factors and ergonomics to the design of systems and devices.
QUALITY
· Acts as a change agent in the identification, development, planning, implementation, and value measurement of informatics strategies to support and integrate quality patient care and professional practice.
· Provides critical analysis and evaluation of health IT and recommends revision of clinical systems, processes, and workflow to ensure achievement of positive patient outcomes.
PATIENT SAFETY
· Combines knowledge of patient care, informatics concepts, and change management to effectively address the information and knowledge needs of patients.
· Promotes safe, effective, and efficient use of health IT.
· Monitors the environment, technology, and infrastructure to support the prevention of medical errors and adverse events.
· Promotes the use of health IT to improve patient safety by designing, developing, implementing, and educating on decision support tools.
· Continuously collects, analyzes, and reports data in collaboration with quality on patient safety issues and outcome to leadership/management.
POLICY AND PROCEDURE
· Supports nursing leadership to implement infrastructure including policies and procedures that support the nursing community.
· Ensures nursing practices and corresponding policies and procedures related to health IT follow appropriate Practice Acts, Joint Commission requirements, and other applicable regulations and standards.
TECHNOLOGY
· Collaborates with leadership in project/program planning and development that supports department and organizational initiatives. Participates as a project leader and management support, focusing on initiatives supporting nursing and/or clinical care services. Provides technical assistance and consultation to leadership regarding project activities. Develops outcomes-oriented work plans and manages project activities and deliverables.
· Assesses, plans, designs, implements, and evaluates clinical workflow and business processes to define technology needs. Continually assesses the education needs of staff, patients, and families. Plans and contributes to formal and informal education for staff, patients and families.
Additional responsibilities include:
· Coordinates meeting with various departments and specialties.
· Complete documentation and associated research on all informatics activities.
· Assists in the review of all change requests with integration architect to ensure all potential impacts are documented and reviewed.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years' experience in clinical practice; Prior committee and/or project focused work; experience with clinical systems and technology required.
