  • The CNC Programmer is responsible for providing quality laser and saw programming and nesting to support production requirements and minimize scrap or waste. The CNC Programmer is responsible for working cross-functionally with internal teams and scheduling weekly laser and saw work centers.

    • Responsible for CNC programmed equipment productivity which includes maintaining generating laser/saw nests, scheduling production to optimize material and resources to meet utilization goals.
    • Coordinates with floor supervisor and operators to prioritize laser production and maintain production requirements and priorities.
    • Monitors scheduled hours at laser work center to maintain achievable level, proactively communicates during times of excessive hours.
    • Manages process improvement to optimize sheet sizes and increase overall yield of parts.

    • Participates in and supports ongoing communications regarding all aspects of equipment functionality (I.E.: Software, Programming Techniques, Machine Maintenance and Operation, Operator Techniques).
    • Coordinates material (steel) requirements with Purchasing.
    • Works cross-functionally between Accounting, Engineering, Sales, Supply Chain and Operations to manage upcoming needs
    • Evaluates parts for manufacturing applications based on variables such as cost, efficiency, and practicality.
    • Manages process improvement to maximize operating parameters of Laser/Saw Machine programming/nesting software.
    • Responsible for posting and communicating nest details.
    • Approaches tasks and issues creatively, while developing improvement ideas and suggestions.

    Requirements

    Qualifications and Essential Skills:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Experience with Computer Aided Drafting software is required.
    • Strong computer skills including MS Office (Excel, Word) is required.
    • Prior CNC Programming experience is required. Specific experience with saw and laser equipment is strongly preferred.
    • PEP Software experience a plus
    • Problem solving techniques. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
    • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • Experience with reading and interpreting documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
    • Analytical skills as needed to understand how processes work, to recognize current or potential problems, and to recommend improvements.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration, and occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the plant shop environment is moderately loud.
