Cloud Systems Architect is responsible for the design and management of an organization's cloud systems, applications, policies, and strategy. Evaluates and identifies the best cloud solutions for the organization. Being a Cloud Systems Architect develops and modifies scalable architecture to support applications and infrastructure-as-a-service (IAAS) and platform-as-a-service (PAAS) platforms. Ensures the security and compliance of cloud environments, including data protection and privacy. Additionally, Cloud Systems Architect monitors and analyzes cloud infrastructure performance to identify and resolve issues proactively. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to optimize cloud-based environments for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. Designs controls and processes that utilize available audit tools. Maintains up-to-date and extensive knowledge of cloud products and technology. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Cloud Systems Architect works autonomously. SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists the Senior Manager, Data Center Operations (DCO) to provide technical leadership for Data Center Operations personnel. Performs high-level system analysis and assists management in setting technical strategy for accomplishing new objectives. Maintains knowledge of current systems and solutions, and provides analysis and recommendations for overcoming obstacles. Functions as a high-level individual contributor in multiple technical areas including servers, storage, networking, and software. Utilizes expertise in business management practices, industry requirements and information technology disciplines to develop technical and/or business solutions to enhance our cloud solutions. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: In this position you will process knowledge of and/or demonstrate ability to learn the Company business processes and Information Technology tools, products and environments. Advise DCO managers and technical staff on the conceptualization, development and implementation of a broad range of information systems issues including hardware/software integration, compatibility and multiple platforms practices, industry requirements and information technology disciplines to develop technical and or business solutions to client problems. Serve as chief architect for complex information systems development. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: BS degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent experience with infrastructure hardware and software systems. Minimum of ten years of Information Technology experience required in a production or equivalent environment. Proven knowledge of multiple versions at least two of the following is required: UNIX, Linux, Windows, or Cisco operating systems. Proven ability to scope, design, install, configure, manage, and troubleshoot physical and virtual environments. Proven ability to install hardware and software, and write/debug scripts, i.e., Perl, PHP, Python, Power Shell, etc. In-depth knowledge of advanced security, networking, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery. Possess sufficient knowledge and experience to assist management in setting infrastructure hardware and software systems strategy. Multiple years of experience as a technical lead with enterprise-class infrastructure systems expected, including working with systems and/or storage virtualization technologies. Technical lead experience should also include supervising and mentoring junior staff and functioning as an interface with other IT and business units. Cisco, Linux, UNIX or Microsoft certifications expected. |
