Cloud Systems Architect is responsible for the design and management of an organization's cloud systems, applications, policies, and strategy. Evaluates and identifies the best cloud solutions for the organization. Being a Cloud Systems Architect develops and modifies scalable architecture to support applications and infrastructure-as-a-service (IAAS) and platform-as-a-service (PAAS) platforms. Ensures the security and compliance of cloud environments, including data protection and privacy. Additionally, Cloud Systems Architect monitors and analyzes cloud infrastructure performance to identify and resolve issues proactively. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to optimize cloud-based environments for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. Designs controls and processes that utilize available audit tools. Maintains up-to-date and extensive knowledge of cloud products and technology. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Cloud Systems Architect works autonomously. Goals are generally communicated in "solution" or project goal terms. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge.     8 year(s) of relevant experience in progressive roles leading IT architecture and engineering designs and domains.

    Preferred Knowledge/Skills:

    Demonstrates thought leader-level abilities with, and/or a proven record of success directing efforts in IT design recommendations, including the following areas:

    • Utilizing Pipelines, data flows and complex data transformations and manipulations using Azure Data Factory; Directing Solution design for cross data domain initiatives and works across domains to ensure cohesive solution;
    • Directing Data warehouse concepts like Star Schema, Snowflake, dimension and fact tables, and how to scale these solutions for performance and resiliency for reporting;
    • Reviewing and identifying architecture and solution designs gaps, with assessment and remediation efforts or mitigation options;
    • Advising of the purpose and benefits of enterprise-wide modelling of business data;
    • Overseeing architectural design and application delivery in technologies that include, but are not limited to: cloud, mobile, web, APIs/microservices, automation, continuous integration/continuous deployment;
    • Leading complex efforts within established Software Development Lifecycles and methodologies including agile, scrum, iterative and waterfall, using blended resources;
    • Directing IT business processes and frameworks including, but not limited to, Identity Access Management (IdAM), Enterprise Application Integration, Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, Content Management, Reporting, Search; Protecting intellectual property, disaster recovery planning and adherence to SDLC as well as COBIT, CMMI, PMM4, and ITIL;
    • Demonstrating business acumen that can interpret and translate goals into technical specifications, delivering thought-leadership of specific technologies, and driving technology change;
    • Having business knowledge and interpersonal skills to build, maintain and influence relationships with senior leaders in IT and throughout a business; Directing on-shore/off-shore teams;
    • Leading architectural and engineering reviews of proposed IT investments/solutions to determine the strategic alignment and technical soundness; Working on abstract concepts and leading projects with strategic significance involving complex variables;
    • Offering seasoned advice on application solutions including assisting with planning and architectural design, development, resolution of technical issues, and application rationalization;
    • Overseeing and establishing delivery of project initiatives;
    • Building trusting and influential relationships at all levels and engaging with vendors and third parties as appropriate;
    • Assessing the viability and feasibility of 3rd party solutions to meet business goals. Advise and influence project sponsors and teams on the technical directions;
    • Collaborating with other Solution Architects and Developers to provide technical design guidance that will align with the strategy and applicable technical standards;
    • Working independently to evaluate and make strategic decisions that will address specific technology design needs and issues within their technology area;
    • Owning and driving thought leadership to influence their sphere of technology in the use of innovation to advance business capabilities; Advising and influencing leaders on trends that could potentially affect the success of a function or business area;
    • Understanding emerging technologies to market these technologies to business leadership and convey possibilities for new ways of working;
    • Assembling concepts and communications appropriate for specific audiences at all staff levels;
    • Promoting a culture of innovation by continuously seeking opportunities for improvement within role, processes, team and the IT organisation as a whole;
    • Providing coaching and technical mentoring; and,
    • Interpreting and providing guidance regarding technical systems and project and implementation management areas.
