Job Description:
The Secretary of the College and Director of Administration, reporting to the President, is a key member of the President's senior leadership team, charged with providing thoughtful and intentional leadership for presidential priorities and strategic initiatives across campus.
Successful candidates will be deeply knowledgeable in higher education operations and structures, particularly those of small liberal arts colleges. The Secretary of the College and Director of Administration should possess strong customer service, management, communications, and negotiation skills as well as a deep commitment to integrity, confidentiality, and an ability to effectively support the President and the Board of Trustees on a wide range of issues.
This role works closely with the President on a wide variety of administrative and executive duties, special projects, and initiatives involving the Office of the President and the Board of Trustees. In addition, they may chair or co-chair campus-wide committees and task forces responsible for campus health and safety policies and protocols, compliance-related matters, and other major institutional initiatives. The Secretary of the College and Director of Administration plays a significant role in organizing campus work around emergency preparedness, including serving on the Emergency Response Team, co-managing the RAVE mobile alert system, and updating Emergency Response Guides.
The Secretary of the College and Director of Administration works with the President, The Board of Trustees, and the Office of Advancement to develop plans for Board of Trustee meetings, including preparing agendas and meeting materials, working with Cabinet members and other colleagues to ensure timeliness and integrity of presentations, overseeing and contributing to the accurate recording of meeting minutes, and ensuring for proper institutional governance file management. This role is responsible for attending in-person and virtual Board and Executive Committee meetings and will be required to provide support as needed. The person in this role is responsible for communicating professionally and confidentially in person and in writing with trustees and other parties. In addition, the Secretary of the College and Director of Administration manages the timeliness and accuracy of all corporate resolutions, trademarks, and licenses and serves as governor of all legal contracts, including overseeing annual agreements and any issues as they arise.
This role oversees staff in the Office of the President as well as the Director of Campus Sustainability.

This job supervises three full-time employees and student interns. Responsibilities would include training student interns; planning, assigning, and directing work, and approving timesheets. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
