    The role will be responsible for the following:

    The Vice President for Business and Finance (VPBF) serves as the chief financial officer at the College. Has primary responsibility for leading, in a manner consistent with the strategic direction of the President, the business operations, accounting procedures, financial planning and management, business accounting, risk management and compliance, budgeting, and plant operations. The VPBF works collaboratively with the other division vice presidents to achieve the College’s purpose, mission and values, leads the fiscal stewardship work and promotes a campus culture that embraces diversity, equity and inclusion. The VPBF reports to the College President.

    ESSENTIAL FUNTIONS

    Fiscal Stewardship

    • In collaboration with the President, leads the College’s strategic financial planning to ensure the long-term fiscal health and viability of the College and develops financial strategy, budgets, and financial practices aligned to the College’s purpose, mission and values.
    • Leads the College’s budget development process and present the College’s budget in a manner consistent with the College’s purpose, mission, and values.
      Identify strategies to improve efficiency and effectiveness in finance and budgeting that enable the College to maintain fiscal health while pursuing strategic initiatives.
    • Leads the Business and Finance Division’s strategic planning work, in alignment with the College’s purpose, mission and values.
    • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as policy and reporting requirements related to the areas in the Business and Finance Division.
      Leads key Business and Finance Division processes, including year-end closing and preparation of annual statements.
    • Oversees the continuous maintenance and renovation of College facilities as well as new construction projects.


    Holistic Student Support

    • Leverages strategic finance to advance the College’s student success agenda and works with other cabinet members to align finance practices with the College’s student success and equity goals.


    Teaching Excellence and Program Innovation

    • Leverages strategic finance to advance the College’s work in teaching excellence.
    • Analyzes and develops financial pro forma for new initiatives.
    • Seeks innovative ways to identify and secure resources to enable the College to advance its purpose, mission, and values.

    Organizational Culture and Inclusive Practices.

    • Provides administrative oversight of Campus Police and sets a clear expectation for “community policing” that is aligned with the values of the College.
    • Serves as an effective team player and member of the president’s cabinet.
    • Builds an understanding—among all members of the president’s cabinet—of how college finances operate and how finance can be strategically leveraged to advance the purpose, mission, and values of the College.
    • Provides equity-minded leadership for the Business and Finance Division that aligns with the College’s values.
    • Embraces and promotes the College’s goals related to diversity, equity and inclusion and leads the Business and Finance Division’s efforts to utilize inclusive best practices to provide equity-minded services for students and employees.
    • Sets clear expectations of other Business and Finance Division leaders and provides guidance and support for them in their work. Set accountability measures that align with expectations and provide a cycle of feedback that focuses on continuous improvement.
    • Leads Business and Finance policy review and development. Ensure policies reflect the purpose, values and mission of the College while meeting Federal, State and local laws as well as TBR policies and guidelines.
    • Leads the continuous review of Business and Finance work, with emphasis on SACSOC compliance, in an effort to promote excellence.

    Required Requirements:

    • Master’s degree in Business or related field. • Five years of experience in business management, preferably in higher education

    Preferred Requirements:

    Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification

    • Ability to lead in a manner that reflects the values of the College. • Ability to collaborate with cabinet members to advance the work of the College. • Innovative financial leadership and demonstrated financial expertise. • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences in verbal and written form. • Ability to analyze how college financial and operational processes affect students and equity-minded student success. • Ability to build an understanding among cabinet members of how college finances operate and how they can be maximized to advance the College’s purpose, mission and values and strategic goals. • Ability to form strategic partnerships with internal and external constituents to further the purpose, values and mission of the College. • Ability to use internal and external data to inform decision-making and planning related to the College’s future financial opportunities and challenges. • Ability to think strategically, to take action with a sense of urgency, to work collaboratively and to make decisions, both collaboratively and independently. • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and to lead in an environment of change. • Desire and ability to focus on continuous improvement in the Business and Finance Division and collegewide.
