Coffee Shop, The Fox at The Palisades, located at 5108 MacArthur Blvd., NW in Washington, DC, is looking to hire hard-working, self-motivated, and high-energy individuals to join our staff as Café Servers and/or Food Preparers.

FRONT OF THE HOUSE,you will be responsible for welcoming and speaking with customers, taking and fulfilling orders, preparing and serving hot and cold beverages, including various types of coffee and tea. To be successful in this role, you should have customer service skills and knowledge of how brewing equipment operates. You should also be able to work various shifts. Note: this position’s compensation includes salary and tips. Ultimately, you will ensure an excellent drinking and eating experience for our guests.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers as they enter

• Provide customers with product details, such as ingredient blend, allergens or preparation description upon request

• Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios)

• Deliver beverages and prepared food, like empanadas, cookies, pastries, sandwiches, and salads

• Operate POS system

• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including main seating area at all times

• Maintain stock of clean cups and plates as well as disposables

• Operate, prepare and clean all equipment. Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report to Manager any maintenance needs

• Follow health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products

• Communicate customer feedback to manager and recommend new menu items

• Ensure that bathrooms are clean by checking them regularly

• Disposal of garbage bags

• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements and skills

• Previous work experience as a Café Server preferred

• Knowledge of sanitation regulations

• Flexibility to work various shifts

• Arrive 30 minutes prior to opening to set up the space and stay 30 minutes after closing for cleaning purposes.

• Ability to gauge customers’ preferences

• Excellent communication skills

• High school diploma, relevant training is a plus

• Spanish speaking desired but not required

• Math Ability: Perform calculations with speed and accuracy and identify and correct errors

• Ability to work as part of a team

BACK OF THE HOUSE,you will be responsible for:

• Preparing sandwiches, salads, and heating different types of products

• Keeping the prep area, utensils, freezers and refrigerators organized and clean according to health and sanitation guidelines

• Check stock regularly to avoid shortage of products

• Disposal of garbage bags

• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements and skills

• Previous work experience as a Food Preparer preferred

• Knowledge of sanitation regulations

• Flexibility to work various shifts and ability to work as part of a team. Note: this position’s compensation does not include tips
