Mission

Strategic contribution to Metalsa’s business objectives through the development, implementation and ongoing governance of robust regional sourcing strategies that are highly aligned with Metalsa’s immediate and long-term strategic goals and effectively support operational execution.

What does a day in the life look like?

• Regional Procurement Strategy. Develop and deploy world-class, competitive supply chain strategies in the assigned commodities. Lead a cross-functional regional team of dotted-line reports if appropriate given the complexity of each commodity. Solicit input from Metalsa’s SBUs and regional operations as needed to ensure alignment with customer and operational needs. Support global commodity initiatives as applicable.
• Market Intelligence/ Risk Mitigation. Develop market intelligence to monitor pricing, capacity, lead times, technology improvements, competitor activity, geographic considerations and risk elements in the assigned commodities.
• Cost Models/ Cost Reduction Initiatives. Improve Metalsa’s profitability and achieve customer cost reduction goals by identifying the cost drivers for products/materials/services within the commodity and creating cost models to facilitate supplier negotiations. Drive cost reduction initiatives through Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) improvement projects with suppliers and regional operations.
• Supplier Identification and Development. Identify and/or develop an optimal, rationalized (“right-sized”) supply base that is stable, highly competitive and well-positioned in terms of total cost, responsiveness, quality, delivery, geographic proximity, technological capabilities and the ability to provide innovative solutions that support Metalsa’s current and future supply needs.
• Pricing and Commercial Terms Negotiation/ Operational. Execution Lead the request for quotation process for assigned commodities in the region. Negotiate pricing, service levels and commercial terms to drive the lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) while supporting operational needs and sustaining quality levels in accordance with Metalsa and customer requirements. May execute Purchase Orders and delivery agreements, conduct order follow-up activity including expediting delivery, arranging invoice payment and resolving discrepancies.
• Supplier Performance and Relationship Management. Support the overall supplier relationship at a regional level. Develop collaborative relationships with key strategic suppliers to protect Metalsa’s interests and enable access to leading edge technology and innovation. Hold suppliers accountable for high performance levels and drive continuous improvement.
• Records and Confidentiality Document activity and retain historical files that are organized, accurate and accessible to designated Metalsa staff as needed, while maintaining appropriate levels of confidentiality within Metalsa and with the supply base.

Education:

• Industrial/ Systems/ Mechanical Engineering, International Commerce or other 4-year business degree.

Experience:

• 5-8 years of Procurement (Strategic Sourcing/ Purchasing/ Supply Chain), or equivalent related experience
• 3-5 years of Procurement-related experience within the automotive industry
• Experience managing multiple commodities preferred
