Position Summary
Responsibilities
- Source, quote, negotiate, purchase and execute commodity buys and contracts
- Research all aspects of procurement needs and take actions to meet the need but also to stay in budget, i.e. alternate products, creative buying, bundling opportunities, new suppliers, etc.
- Deliver improved cost of goods to the entire system by staying ahead of commodity trends.
- Negotiate supplier programs including, but not limited to, rebate programs, volume programs, pricing strategies, etc.
- Build, manage, and maintain healthy relationships with suppliers.
- Manage supplier programs for process and cost efficiencies, including vendor contract compliance.
- Identify, develop, and execute strategic supply sources.
- Issue and complete regular RFP’s – request for proposals and execute regular reviews.
- Work directly with suppliers to resolve any issues or concerns that may arise during the contract period.
- Conduct vendor reviews.
- Create and hold vendors accountable to established/agreed upon specs.
Prerequisites
- At least two years’ experience with protein/commodities market
- Advanced Excel skills
