Overview:

The Part-Time Coordinator of Content and Communications will play a crucial role in fostering positive relationships within the district community and be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining comprehensive communications practices that will inform, engage, and inspire.

Terms of Employment: 12-months; 20 hours/week

Reports to: Superintendent of Schools

Responsibilities:

Public Relations:

• Monitor media coverage and identify opportunities for proactive outreach.
• Develop and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other communication materials to highlight the district.
• Craft communications to inform the community of district/school events
• Organize and participate in district community events and meetings, as needed
• Build relationships with staff, parents, and students.
• Develop, coordinate and distribute bi-weekly newsletters and other relevant publications, including at least (2) print publications to be shared with the FLOW communities annually

Communication and Publications:

• Compose and distribute routine updates following Board Meetings
• Assist the District Crisis Team with communications, as/when needed
• Coordinate communications with district and school leadership to ensure consistent messaging
• Assist with the creation of presentations and the promotion of projects and programs

Social Media:

• Manage and maintain the district’s social media accounts.
• Create engaging content to share district news, events, and achievements, including video, photos and imagery

Website Management:

• Assist in maintaining and updating the district website to deliver consistent messaging and enhance the user experience
• Serve as a liaison between website contributors and the technology team to implement design and layout changes to improve overall user experience

Internal Communications:

• Collaborate with administrators to develop and distribute consistent, timely and informative communications to staff
• Provide training, resources and support on communication best practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related technology field
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience in media relations, social media and familiarity with Content Management Systems (CMS)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexible work schedule
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Knowledge of graphic design and video editing is a plus

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $35,000.00 - $38,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 20 per week
