    POSITION PURPOSE

    Reporting to the Senior Assistant Dean for Enrollment Management and Student Services, the Assistant Director of Marketing & Communications will play a key role in the School's marketing and communication efforts. In collaboration with the Dean and the Senior Assistant Dean, the Assistant Director is responsible for planning, developing and implementing ECP's marketing strategies and activities through print, digital and social media, to effectively promote the University's image and recruit students to the Education and Counseling Psychology Graduate Programs. This position will assist the School by overseeing all communication, both internal and external and social platforms. The ideal candidate will be interested in enhancing their experience across a broad range of marketing and communications activities.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Marketing of ECP

    The Assistant Director will work to maintain the visibility of the School and its programs. Collaboration with key stakeholders will be important in this role's overall success.

    In collaboration with the Sr. Assistant Dean, design marketing strategy and execute plans for the promotion, recruitment and growth of the school's graduate programs on the local, national and global stage.
    Work directly with Enrollment Management and Student Services, faculty, and other key staff to create, implement and execute marketing plans to support their marketing vision and enrollment goals across admissions, career services and program management.
    Participate in calls and meetings with various marketing & communication vendors
    Ensure data metrics are provided to the dean and review the ROI for all external relationships
    Develop content as directed for marketing materials, ads, social media, digital boards, collateral, and more as needed.

    2. Website and Social Platforms

    The Assistant Director of Marketing will support the leadership team to ensure the website is a strong marketing tool. This will include such things as the look and feel of the website and establishing and supporting our brand. Focus will be on the ease and maneuverability of the website as a recruitment tool for our students and related activities.
    Develop, implement and maintain web pages and websites, ranging from a specific event page to a department or School's site. Working with the dean, determine website structure, content and accessibility to ensure user-friendly customer journey.
    Assist and train staff on how to update and maintain their own departmental websites.
    With guidance from the dean and senior assistant dean of enrollment and student services, develop and execute a social media strategy across all ECP social media channels. Develop and schedule social media content. Identify and source appropriate visuals to support content.
    Collaborate with the digital marketing firm to ensure consistency in brand messaging between ads and social media content.
    Ensure ECP is using the latest social platform to interact and connect with current and former students, faculty & staff and to grow following.

    3. Communications

    Communications for the School are an integral part of this role. The Assistant Director will work to ensure the School is on brand and has a consistent message to all audiences, including:

    Support the dean and senior assistant dean to communicate the School of Education and Counseling Psychology brand in all communications – newsletters, dean's letters, annual reports.
    Produce, proof, edit and publish content for ECP channels such as students, faculty, staff, SCU departments, alumni and community partners.
    Ensure communication reaches outlets of relevance to marketing efforts and communication supports marketing efforts and brand.
    Oversee the usage of the building's digital signage
    Oversee the master editorial calendar, as well as report on unique news events as they arise
    In collaboration with the Director of External Relations, market and showcase all external relations events
    Document and promote successes of students, faculty, staff, and alumni of ECP for both internal and external audiences.

    Interpersonal skills needed to work with individuals with a variety of skills and backgrounds
    Strong customer service orientation
    Strong communication skills (spelling, grammar, oral and written communication)
    Professional and service oriented in approach to all contingencies

    Knowledge and experience

    Understanding of core marketing and communications concepts and the importance of building a strong marketing brand and the role of consistent and brand-relevant communications in building internal and external relationships
    Knowledge of social media platforms and how to utilize in marketing and communications
    Knowledge and experience implementing a marketing strategy to support the brand
    Experience with higher education or social enterprise marketing is desirable but not required

    Technical Skills: No one candidate is expected to have all of these particular software or technical skills, but will need to develop those that are not present in order to be successful. Skills listed below are desired.

    Graphic Design: Knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator and Adobe Creative, Canva
    Social Media strategies and communication software: Sprout/Sprinkler
    Awareness of digital Advertising Strategies including PPC/SEO/SEM. This role does not place digital ads, but an understanding of the digital marketing world will inform the work
    Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize and juggle multiple projects and marketing channels simultaneously
    Website management. Experience utilizing web sites to promote brand and enhance marketing and communications is strongly preferred.

    Education and/or Experience

    Bachelor's degree required. Degree in marketing, communications, or a related field desired.
    3-5 years of work experience in marketing or related fields is strongly preferred.
