Job Overview:

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber is hiring a Communications Manager to lead the development and implementation of comprehensive communication strategies that will enhance the Chamber's visibility with key audiences and geographies, highlight the Chamber’s leadership role in the region’s economic development and help strengthen member relationships.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting the growth of our region and our local businesses, have a strategic mindset and excel at execution and have strong communications skills. The ability to effectively work across different teams and key stakeholders will be critical to the success of this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with the Chamber’s leadership team to develop and execute a communications plan that aligns with the Chamber’s goals and objectives.
• Ensure consistency in messaging and branding across all communication channels.
• Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of communications strategies and make recommendations for improvements.
• Build and maintain relationships with local media and stakeholders.
• Write and distribute press releases, coordinate media interviews and manage media inquiries.
• Prepare talking points and issue briefs for Chamber leadership ahead of speaking events and media appearances.
• Attend assigned events with Chamber leaders to capture photography and videography that can be used for content creation.
• Identify key communication opportunities and manage campaigns to promote the Chamber’s key initiatives and signature events.
• Create, edit, and manage content for various platforms including the Chamber’s website, newsletters, social media and press releases.
• Develop a bank of content that highlights the Chamber’s economic development wins.
• Ensure all content is clear, engaging and aligns with the Chamber’s voice and branding.
• Assist in the creation of member-focused content such as newsletters, member spotlights and event promotions.
• Collaborate with the events team to ensure effective promotion and communication of events.
• Assist in managing communication during crisis situations or emergencies.
• Develop and implement crisis communication plans as needed.

Education & Experience:

• A bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a communications role, preferably within a non-profit, membership-based, or economic development organization.

Qualifications Required (Computer Skills, Knowledge & Abilities):

• Proven experience in content creation, media relations and social media strategy/management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across both internal and external teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience with content management systems and social media platforms.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Familiarity with the Mahoning Valley’s key economic and community priorities.

Physical Requirements:

Flexibility and availability to accommodate a full schedule of responsibilities, occasionally including early mornings, evenings and weekends.

Performance Standards:

The effectiveness of the Communications Manager is measured against annual goals established with the SVP of Marketing & Member Services. These goals are based upon internal and external performance measures articulated in the Regional Chamber’s strategic plan.

Evaluation/Review Process:

The effectiveness of the Communications Manager is ordinarily reviewed annually through a professional development and evaluation process facilitated by the SVP that includes input from the Manager.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
