Community Development Manager manages the economic development lending activities to support or subsidize improvements in the community. Ensures company visibility is established in the area and promotes relationships with groups, agencies, and organizations in the community to identify lending and other business development opportunities. Being a Community Development Manager evaluates the current and future credit needs of the community and develops a strong understanding of the local issues and needs. Actively monitors public programs that support community development initiatives. Additionally, Community Development Manager initiates policy changes or enhancements to ensure compliance with Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) and other regulations. Makes recommendations to expand and develop lending programs. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Community Development Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Community Development Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Position Overview

    Primary Purpose of Position
    In collaboration with an Extension Specialist, assists in the development, implementation, and management of research based educational programs that meet the needs of limited-resource and socially-disadvantaged audiences, consistent with the philosophy, policy and overall mission, goals and educational objectives of North Carolina A&T Cooperative Extension. Assists with on-going program evaluation and recommends program revisions based on data and evolving needs of the audience served. Independently designs and implements programs as assigned. This position works specifically to support a variety of CRD programs targeting adults and youth limited-resource communities.
    Primary Function of Organizational Unit
    Cooperative Extension at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is an educational outreach organization within the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. Cooperative Extension at N.C. A&T provides researched-based educational information, programming and technical assistance to limited-resource audiences that address a diverse range of issues in four programmatic areas - Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, Community and Rural Development, and 4-H Youth Development. Together with its partners - North Carolina State University Extension, U.S. Department of Agriculture, state and county governments, a dynamic and resourceful system is formed. In addition to campus operations, Cooperative Extension has professionally staffed offices in almost half of the 100 counties in North Carolina and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.
    Minimum Requirements
    * Master's degree in education, community development, regional and urban planning, rural sociology or other closely related field.
    * Experience in the design and development of educational programs delivered in community based settings.
    * Demonstrated ability to communicate, interact and collaborate with colleagues and community partners.
    * Computer literacy (proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Office, etc.; experience with statistical analysis software preferred)
