Community Development Manager manages the economic development lending activities to support or subsidize improvements in the community. Ensures company visibility is established in the area and promotes relationships with groups, agencies, and organizations in the community to identify lending and other business development opportunities. Being a Community Development Manager evaluates the current and future credit needs of the community and develops a strong understanding of the local issues and needs. Actively monitors public programs that support community development initiatives. Additionally, Community Development Manager initiates policy changes or enhancements to ensure compliance with Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) and other regulations. Makes recommendations to expand and develop lending programs. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Community Development Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Community Development Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Job Summary

    Manages the accounting operations of Englewood Community Development Corporation, including analysis, auditing, and production of periodic financial reports. Responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records while operating under a comprehensive set of internal controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Supervise and manage financial team staff responsible for budgeting, accounting, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable. The Financial Controller will serve as a member of the leadership team and will work to enhance and ensure compliance with the organization’s fiscal and accounting processes and provide input to improve organizational operational effectiveness.

    Essential Responsibilities & Duties

    General:

    • Support ECDC fiscal operations and organizational growth through ownership of overall financial health, maintaining and improving financial systems, and minimizing financial risk
    • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to ensure accuracy and full compliance with appropriate GAAP standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices
    • Manage and coordinate annual external audits each year
    • Ensure compliance with all compliance accounting and reporting requirements
    • Maintain organization’s Fiscal Policies and Procedures as well as an annual reporting calendar; ensures organizational compliance through internal auditing and training
    • Supervise financial team staff and strive for professional development; create quarterly and annual goals and development plans as well as support and provide hands-on training to meet those goals
    • Assist with bi-weekly payroll process and ensure accuracy of personnel records in the payroll system; maintain adequate controls for timesheet process and paying employees

    Financial Statements:

    • Close each month’s financial records within 30 days to deliver timely and accurate financial reporting to stakeholders
    • Ensure all balance sheet accounts are fully reconciled and discrepancies are resolved prior to issuing internal and external financial reports
    • Maintain adequate internal controls and safeguards of cash, federal/state grants, and actual expenditures and provide recommendations for improvement

    Budgets:

    • Responsible for maintaining and updating budgets in collaboration with leadership team to meet fiscal goals
    • Advise staff of historic actuals and remaining balances, identify and resolve discrepancies and revise as needed to remain in compliance with established policies and procedures
    • Collaborate with leadership team to enhance understanding of budget and actuals; create training opportunities for operations

    Other Duties:

    • Work collaboratively with overlapping functional areas, such as HR and Grants Management, within the larger organization to streamline and improve programs
    • Support the training of all ECDC staff involved in finance with content and systems training that improve overall ability to deliver on-time, accurate financial information (e.g., internal systems, procedures/policies, etc.)
    • Facilitate and lead professional development, as needed
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to lead a department that operates within legal boundaries and supports organizational mission
    • Respond to urgent communications in a timely manner
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
