Community Development Representative implements the economic development lending activities to support or subsidize improvements in the community. Establishes and maintains relationships with groups and organizations in the community to identify lending and other business development opportunities. Being a Community Development Representative develops an understanding of public programs and community needs to ensure effective community outreach and support development. Represents the institution within the community and is a resource for information about products and services that are available. Additionally, Community Development Representative adheres to all operational procedures and complies with Community Reinvestment Act and other regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Community Development Representative occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     New Jersey Community Development Corporation is a multi-faceted community development and social service agency providing opportunities to transform lives in Passaic County. Elm Street is a supported housing program for youth ages 18-21 that have a disability and are either homeless or aging-out of foster care.

    We are seeking a dynamic individual to serve as a Youth Development Specialist. The responsibilities include:

    • Implementing Individual Service Plan (ISP) teaching/training schedule
    • Ensuring that ISP goals and objectives are being addressed and that anticipated outcomes are being documented, monitored and met
    • Teaching skills as per the ISP and in accordance with established methods
    • Ensuring the timely and thorough completion of program documentation as required by state licensing standards, agency policy and procedures and quality assurance guidelines.
    • Reviewing the daily logs, medication logs, communication log, activity sheets, and incident reports at the beginning of each shift.
    • Coordinating resident transportation
    • Participating in house and staff meetings on a monthly basis.
    • Providing emergency residential shift coverage during staff shortages, as needed
    • Monitoring and authorizing entrance and departure of employees, parents, program participants and visitors:
    • De-escalating challenging situations that may arise with unauthorized visitors, parents, etc.;
    • Maintaining visitor sign-in log and providing visitors with the appropriate ID badge
    • Completing reports of activities and disturbances that occur on a weekly bases while on duty;
    • Reporting all incidents to the appropriate staff and completes the appropriate documentation;
    • Contacting police or fire department in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons;

    Prospective applicants must have a Bachelors Degree in a human services field with one to three years of experience working with young adults or a High School Diploma with three to seven years of experience working with young adults; excellent organizational skills; ability to work effectively independently or as a member of a team; excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; and a valid drivers license. Computer skills are also essential, with experience with Microsoft Word, and Excel, preferred. Attractive salary and benefits package will be provided.
