Compensation Director is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the organization's compensation programs, including base pay, incentive pay, and performance management programs. Leads the compensation function and works with senior management to ensure that compensation strategy and programs support the organization's business objectives, meet all legal requirements, and deliver value and equitable pay. Being a Compensation Director develops compensation budget for assigned areas and manages budget after it is approved. Establishes data collection and analysis processes for market, pay equity, and other compensation studies. Additionally, Compensation Director may be responsible for entire organization or for one or more major segments of a larger organization. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Compensation Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Compensation Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Sprouts Farmers Market (SFM) is seeking a strategic, collaborative, and forward-thinking person to join our team as the Director of Compensation. In this position, you will be responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership in the design, development, implementation, administration, and communication of broad-based compensation programs including base pay, variable pay, compensation planning, market analysis, job evaluation and retention with a focus on continuous improvement and scalability. This role requires a strong retail and/or store compensation background and experience. This is a highly visible role that will interface with senior leadership and with internal and external business partners at all levels. This role will report directly to the Vice President of Total Rewards.


    Overview of Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the overall development, implementation, and execution of all broad-based compensation programs aligned with Sprouts overall Total Rewards philosophy and strategic roadmap
    • Design and oversee competitive store/retail compensation programs to attract and retain high-performing team members, including base salary, incentives, rewards, recognition, and ensuring fair and equitable compensation practices.
    • Evaluate, recommend, and implement solutions to current retail/store compensation processes.
    • Partner with Operations, HR, and Finance leaders to implement and administer compensation programs and initiatives across the chain.
    • Monitor local market practices, trends, and requirements to ensure compensation remains market competitive, sound financially and legally compliant.
    • Lead and oversee communication efforts to educate team members about compensation programs.
    • Provide thought leadership to design and implementation of employee recognition programs that motivate and reward team member performance.
    • Collaborate with key partners to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
    • Manage relationships with external vendors, including participation in vendor selection, implementation activities, and ongoing review and status meetings to leverage their knowledge and insights for continuous improvement of our total rewards programs.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Economics or a related field with a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in compensation
    • Strong retail/store compensation required
    • Master’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
    • Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience
    • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) preferred
    • Ability to consult with employees at all organizational levels and lead significant changes
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office; expert in Microsoft Excel
