Competitive Pricing Manager assists with the pricing analysis of revenue, market share, capacity, and competitor activity to provide pricing for products, geographies, and market segments aligned with products and sales strategy. Conducts market research and intelligence gathering and recommends pricing targets. Being a Competitive Pricing Manager maintains competitive pricing databases to monitor changes in the marketplace and their impact on new and existing products. Performs analyses to test customer price sensitivity and elasticity. Additionally, Competitive Pricing Manager typically requires a bachelor's degree in business or related discipline. Typically reports to a manager. The Competitive Pricing Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Competitive Pricing Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

    This important commercial role is a counterpart to our Branch manager roles with the same approval levels without direct reports and more day to day transactional decisions. The intent is to provide a go to person that is in the office daily to provide transactional leadership for the Northern Sales and Customer Service Team. The role would be the primary go to person for the sales leadership team of the North to get support on determining delivered product cost so that they can work with the sales team to provide competitive pricing to our customers. Requires a Professional, Collaborative person that has knowledge of BUS, Purchasing, internal Brenntag resources, Brenntag Logistics and Suppliers.

    Primary Job Duties

    • Product Cost analysis for the Commercial Leadership team
      Use experience to provide product cost to sales leadership so pricing can be provided to the sales team
    • Depending on the product/situation, need to reach out and communicate with:
      -Product Manager
      -Purchasing department
      -Other ROC’s
      -Vendors
      -Other branches
      -TMS
      -Other local contracted local carriers
    • Work in conjunction with Pricing Manager – South Region who will have authority over price increases affecting the ROC. They will have a dotted line to the South Region pricing manager, but will report to VP North Region.
    • Back-up Invoice Hold and Low Margin Report and Release (IBB) If local manager is out
      -Preview daily report, research problem, get someone to fix problem
      -Elevate issues to Branch Managers and District Managers to resolve
    • Product Allocation Release Approvals for Northern Region
      -Elevate issues to Branch Managers and District Managers to resolve
    • CSR Pricing approvals
      -Empower CSRs to make decisions as appropriate
      -Work constructively with Sales Leaders to handle exceptions
    • SIC code assignments for new customers
      -Coordinate with Sales Leaders and Assistants
    • Customer Quote Updates from Reps (Pricing tool in SalesForce)
      -Coordinate with Branch Managers and District Managers
    • Key Account Pricing Updates and Bids for North Region
      -Lead role in support of Key Account Program
      -Coordinate strategy with Sales Management
    • New Business Product Price Support
    • Collaborate with Sales Management and Product Management
    • Set up supports with non-managed Vendors (ie no Product Manager assigned)
      -Send details to Marisol for entry into BUS
    • Problem Expedition
      -Work with CSR, Operations and Sales team to help solve order issues
      -Back up role for Customer Service Manager and Sales Assistant for the North Region

    YOUR PROFILE

    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
    • 5 years’ experience in the chemical or chemical distribution industries
    • Able to learn new software
    • Good communicator
