Compliance Director (Banking) manages operations to identify and respond to suspicious activity violating current anti-money laundering (AML) regulations as defined in the US Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) or other governmental anti-terrorist financing programs. Implements oversight systems, interdiction software, and audit processes to perform daily transaction monitoring and identify suspicious activity patterns. Being a Compliance Director (Banking) monitors activity and ensures adherence to Know your Customer (KYC) protocols and regulatory requirements for required filings and reporting. Leads investigations of suspicious activity to pursue corrective actions and ensure completion of required filings. Additionally, Compliance Director (Banking) maintains extensive knowledge of financial regulations, risk management best practices, and changing fraudulent trends to develop and implement appropriate compliance procedures. Delivers compliance training with up-to-date regulatory information and procedures to develop and guide well-informed staff. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. May have the Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) certification. Typically reports to a director. The Compliance Director (Banking) typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Compliance Director (Banking) typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.   • The Student Aid & Scholarships Assistant Director for Financial Aid Compliance leads campus efforts for Title IV compliance requirements such as federal and state reporting (HEERF, Gainful Employment, College Cost Transparency, Net Price Calculator), consumer information, and disclosures. This position is expected to collaborate across multiple campus departments and develop initiatives, communications, and training to meet Title IV regulatory compliance.
    This position will work closely with the Department of Education Systems and the Budget and Finance office to promote sound fiscal management, regulatory compliance, and student access. It reports to the Director of Student Aid & Scholarships and serves as a member of the Student Services leadership team. This position requires excellent customer service in person, by phone, and by email to internal and external customers. This position fulfills the College’s mission by providing access to educating tomorrow’s workforce.

    This position has been designated as a bargaining unit position represented by the Aft Professional Staff, Local 6431. Duty: Serve as the lead for Student Aid & Scholarships on campus efforts for Title VI compliance 
    Tasks include:
    • Review and develop internal controls utilizing an effective understanding of college policies and procedures and expert knowledge of federal and state regulations to safeguard the College’s liability risk and promote departmental efficiencies. 
    • Coordinates with the Student Aid & Scholarship leadership team to update departmental policies and procedures. 
    • Collaborate across departments and develop initiatives, communications, and training to meet Title IV regulatory compliance.
    • Serve as the Student Aid representative on the curriculum committee. Guide campus stakeholders regarding program eligibility requirements and regulations. 
    • Manage the Student aid webpages to ensure regulatory compliance with consumer information and disclosures.

    Duty: Process Income reconsiderations (Professional Judgement) and Requests for additional time
    Tasks include:
    • Meet with students to discuss requests for professional judgement or additional time.
    • Contact students as needed for documentation. 
    • Adjust aid as necessary on all appropriate systems.
    • Assist with File review and packaging/awarding during high-volume time periods

    Duty: Federal and State Reporting
    Tasks include:
    • Compile data and reconciliation for FISAP, Unit record, State Interim report, and SBCTC surveys. 
    • Serve as Student Aid lead for HEERF, Gainful Employment, and skip trace reporting. 
    • This position serves as a backup for processing both federal and state returns of funds (r2t4). 
    • Assist with departmental program reconciliation and campus reconciliation.
    Duty: Customer Service and Professional Development
    Tasks include:
    • Maintain knowledge of and adhere to Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) rules/regulations concerning student information while providing information to students, parents, faculty/staff, external agencies, and others when working at the front counter, workshops (on and off campus), appointments, emails, and phone calls. 
    • Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors professionally and courteously. 
    • Respond to telephone and email inquiries promptly. 
    • Participate in trainings and other professional development opportunities as directed by supervisor, Associate Dean, Dean, or Vice President of Student Success. 
    • Provide evening hours coverage as necessary. 6. Lead and assist with training of other student aid & scholarship employees.
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution 
    • Minimum of three to five years experience administering financial aid or in a Title IV compliance-related position. 
    • Not in loan default or in overpayment status of any financial aid. (Upon hire, employee will be required to apply and gain approval access to the National Student Loan Database System for the Department of Education).

    • Experience in analyzing, controlling, and reconciling budgets. 
    • Experience with the Washington Community and Technical College CTC link system or Peoplesoft/Oracle products. 
    • Professional experience in effective communication in English, both verbally and in writing, using proper grammar composing, proofreading, and finalizing grammatically correct documents and business communications for submission to required agencies. 
    • Experience in time management, completion of critical assignments, and prioritization.
