Compliance Director (Banking) manages operations to identify and respond to suspicious activity violating current anti-money laundering (AML) regulations as defined in the US Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) or other governmental anti-terrorist financing programs. Implements oversight systems, interdiction software, and audit processes to perform daily transaction monitoring and identify suspicious activity patterns. Being a Compliance Director (Banking) monitors activity and ensures adherence to Know your Customer (KYC) protocols and regulatory requirements for required filings and reporting. Leads investigations of suspicious activity to pursue corrective actions and ensure completion of required filings. Additionally, Compliance Director (Banking) maintains extensive knowledge of financial regulations, risk management best practices, and changing fraudulent trends to develop and implement appropriate compliance procedures. Delivers compliance training with up-to-date regulatory information and procedures to develop and guide well-informed staff. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. May have the Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) certification. Typically reports to a director. Scope of Job:
Under the guidance of the Quality Assurance position, the Business Banking Assistant will collaborate with Business Development Officers, Portfolio Managers, and Quality Control to assure quality documents for the origination, renewal, and maintenance of Business Banking loans which include Agricultural, Business, and Construction loans. Accountable to provide quality assurance for all loan files and verify that all documentation complies with the audit and policy requirements of the Bank. Responsible to work directly with loan customers as requested by the Branch President, Business Development Officer, Portfolio Manager, or when contacted by the customer.
Primary Duties:
Responsible to obtain and verify loan documentation required for the origination and renewal of Business Banking loans; consistent with checklist definitions.
Provide assistance to Business Development Officer and/or Portfolio Manager to assure and corroborate a compliant submission of loan documentation to the Credit Department or Credit Analyst Team. Responsible to obtain a copy of credit submission and be knowledgeable about the loan and required documentation.
Accountable to verify that the work for each file is done correctly; providing quality assurance for all Business Banking files prior to closing documents being drawn.
Responsible for the accurate completion required validation, approvals, and submission of loan set-up sheets for all loan types; assuring that documents are accurately drawn by Loan Operations based on loan approval.
Accountable for the final review and validation of printed loan documents prior to customer signature, working with Loan Operations to resolve any exceptions.
Represent the Business Development Officer or Portfolio Manager, as requested, to close loan with customer. Responsible to disburse funds, prepare tickets, and document Loan Comments. Accountable to prepare and submit loan activation form to Loan Operations; including any required final review or approvals.
Accountable to perform post close documentation quality check. Complete loan checklist, performing final verification of closing documents with Credit Memo for assigned loan types and sizes.
Accountable to update existing ticklers for renewed loans and establish ticklers for newly originated loans. Responsible to follow-up on the disposition of all tickers.
Perform post-closing work required to assure proper collateral for each loan; ensuring that title and UCC searches are complete; verifying perfection of security interest for pledged collateral.
Accountable for the accurate preparation, indexing, and scanning of loan documents on a timely basis. Organize and retain required physical loan documentation.
Responsible to provide customer service to borrowers at the direction of the Branch President, Business Development Officer, or Portfolio Manager. May include documentation of loan maintenance requests, loan payment receipt and processing, loan payoff processing, loan advances, request for release of collateral.
Secondary Duties:
Work as a team with departmental counterparts on planning and implementing assigned projects and products.
Participate on various committees and project teams as deemed appropriate by management.
Attend, actively participate in organization, job specific training offered, and Quality Service programs.
Adhere to all applicable Policies and Procedures of BankWest organization.
Community involvement is strongly encouraged.

Requirements
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
3 years' lending and loan documentation experience preferred
Knowledge and Special Skills:
Attentive to detail.
Ability to work dependently and/or independently, under pressure, meet deadlines, and adjust work schedules as needed to complete job responsibilities.
Ability to organize and handle multiple responsibilities while delivering quality external and/or internal Customer Service.
Strong interpersonal skills to ensure effective communication with external and/or internal customers.
Knowledge or ability to learn regulatory requirements pertinent to performance of specified duties in job description.
Knowledge of banking terminology and procedures.
Ability to skillfully use a variety of application software, learn computer programs, and comprehend the program output.
Adhere to Federal Privacy Standards in addition to following BankWest requirements for electronic communication and Social Engineering standards.
