    Description of Job

    Salary range for this position:
    $4,669.00 - $5,765.00 Monthly
    $56,028.00 - $69,180.00 Annually

    The Coverage Enforcement Unit is a civil enforcement unit that investigates businesses and insurance carriers regarding compliance with the insurance coverage requirements of the Workers' Compensation Act and Division of Workers' Compensation regulations. The unit also provides informational and educational resources about requirements for insurance coverage and reporting.


    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Expected work schedule is Monday through Friday
    • Work location is a hybrid of office and remote work with at least two days remote
    • Ability to work in an active, collaborative, environment
    • Use a computer to accomplish everyday work duties
    • Intermediate to advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office (particularly Word and Excel) and Google Suite (Google Mail, Docs, Sheets and Drive)

    DUTIES:

    This position exists to investigate and educate employers to effect compliance with the insurance requirements of the Workers’ Compensation Act, related statutes, rules, and regulations. Investigative, targeting, and computer cross match techniques are used to determine non-compliant employers and insurance carriers. Employers are investigated and tracked until compliance is achieved or prosecutorial action is pursued to either impose a fine or close the business pursuant to Colorado law. The position also educates individuals, businesses, and municipalities to effect requirements of the Act and related Rules.

    Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

    Substitutions:
    Appropriate experience will substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.

    Appropriate education will substitute for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.

    Education and Experience:
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a field of study related to the work assignment.

    AND

    One (1) year of professional experience in investigations, auditing, insurance underwriting, workers’ compensation, or worker classification (eligibility and type of employee).

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Intermediate to advanced PC skills including Microsoft Office (particularly Word and Excel) and Google Suite (Google Mail, Docs, Sheets and Drive)
    • Professional experience in workers’ compensation underwriting, auditing, proof of coverage, or premium fraud investigation.
    • Experience writing legal documents such as orders, affidavits, memos, etc.
