Conference Coordinator - Higher Ed. coordinates conferences and workshops for the university/college. 2024 Summer Conference Advisor

  • Essential Duties
    Must attend all staff meetings, one-on-one meetings with Resident Director of Housing and Residence Life, and training sessions.

    Must perform the following administrative tasks:
    a. Check-in and check-out of conference participants (including summer school residents).

    b. Inspect rooms prior to and after camps.

    c. Check, complete, and submit maintenance requests.

    d. Prepare and issue room assignment packets upon check-in.

    e. Manage room key distribution and collection.

    f. Provide minimal custodial room care and service (this may include hanging of shower curtains, removal of trash, moving and staging room furniture for future conferences).

    g. Distribute pertinent information to conference participants (i.e. bulletins boards, programs, host floor meetings (2), leave messages for residents or conference participants, distributing handouts).

    h. Serve as a convenient and reliable resource person for conference participants, conference staff members, and summer school residents.

    I. Fulfill on-duty responsibilities as assigned for summer conferences and summer school students.

    j. Confront policy violations.

    k. Know campus and community resources.

    l. Be accessible via in person or by phone to address questions and emergencies.

    m. Provide service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to sponsors, participants, and other conference constituents as well as summer school students.

    n. Other related duties as assigned.
    Minimum Qualifications
    Must be a full time student according to MUW summer school hours: 6 hours per term or minimum of 3 hours per term = 6 hours for both terms).

    Must have a 2.5 GPA or higher at date of application (will check spring semester GPA when available).

    Must attend training: May 9th-11th and be available for all Move-In and Check Out dates.

    Personal cell phones will be utilized for job expectations as a means of contact.

    Job Description Summary
    Summer Conference Advisors (SCA’s) provide customer service and assistance to summer camp/conference participants and assume responsibilities for the daily operation of the residence halls and residents. SCA’s perform regular administrative tasks related to managing the halls and must be knowledgeable of and able to implement university policies. Duty schedules will be determined and assigned once the entire summer staff has met.
