Conflicts Manager manages and directs all aspects of the conflicts department. Oversees the process of conflict resolution with clients and third party to maintain good vendor relationship. Being a Conflicts Manager coordinates with the attorneys and mediators to prevent potential conflicts. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Conflicts Manager typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Conflicts Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be a Conflicts Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. - Assist in the identification of potential conflicts of interest through corporate and conflicts database research of client and matter information provided by requesting attorney or assistant;
- Become proficient in the understanding and utilization of conflicts of interest database; including, maintenance and update of the conflicts database;
- Research corporate history of clients and parties related to the new client work;
- Respond to attorney and staff requests and
- Assist Manager, Supervisor and Firm General Counsel with a wide range of research requests and other projects.
- Perform conflict of interest searches associated with all new hire candidates as required.
Required Skills:- BA degree or paralegal certificate required. Experience in a legal environment a plus.
- Conflicts of interest experience or comparable research skills preferred.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Elite database or comparable database experience a plus.
- Strict attention to detail a must.
- Must possess strong organizational and communication skills.
- Prior Lexis/Westlaw or similar research experience required;
- Experience with conflicts analysis and corporate family tree affiliations is preferred.
- The ideal candidate should be able to successfully problem solve in a high volume, fast paced, detail critical work environment.
- Work occasionally requires over 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position; may require irregular hours.
- An aptitude for handling complex conflicts issues is essential; this includes the ability to inquire thoroughly into the facts of a given situation and excellent analytic skills to make use of that information.
