Conservation Technician maintains the authenticity and overall appearance of art objects. Conducts analysis to determine appropriate method for cleaning and repairing objects. Being a Conservation Technician may require an associate's degree or its equivalent and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Conservation Technician relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The California Conservation Corps Monterey Bay Center, located in Watsonville, has openings for Corpsmembers to train in wildland firefighting.
CCC wildland firefighting Corpsmembers train and work with CCC and CAL FIRE staff and respond as initial attack hand crews on wildfires in Santa Cruz and San Mateo counties, and across California. A year in the CCC can lead to careers in fire service.
You must be 18-25 years old or military veteran 29 or younger to enroll in the program. Benefits include:
Work with CAL FIRE on wildland firefighting hand crews and gain the experience needed to launch a career in fire service. Corpsmembers regularly go on to careers with USFS, CAL FIRE, Bureau of Land Management, city and county fire departments, as well as State Parks, Caltrans, and other local community agencies.
Shift times and length may vary by assignment, but the program is a 40-hour per week commitment.
