This individual will work directly with the SVP Regional Manger with a focus on developing and maintaining a loan portfolio consisting of commercial and consumer loans. The ideal candidate will have experience in Lending (Commercial and Consumer) and financial underwriting. Ten years or more of related banking experience is preferred.

    POSITION SUMMARY: Extends credit to businesses and individuals. Originates commercial loans, real estate, and consumer loans, determines creditworthiness, and makes recommendations for grant of same. Reviews and analyzes financial statements, tax returns, business plans and other pertinent information. Has loan authority and presents loans to the bank loan committee. Refers business to other divisions within the bank including Commercial Deposit Services and First Trust & Wealth Management. Participate in sales, marketing and strategic planning to expand First Bank & Trust’s lending and deposit opportunities in the Kingsport Market Area.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Responsible for developing and maintaining a personal commercial loan portfolio.
    • Interviews applicants to develop credit and financial information to determine if a loan is an acceptable risk. Processes and approves or rejects loans.
    • Consults with customers to provide financial advice and to obtain current credit and financial information as needed.
    • Works to attract new loan and business customers. Represents the bank in the community to develop business and promote FB&T.
    • Identifies and explores business development opportunities within the community through bank customers, business owners, real estate investors, builders, realtors, attorneys, accountants, etc.
    • Prepare and present loan requests to the credit committee for approval.
    • Manages the outstanding loan portfolio relating to maintenance, modifications, and renewals on existing credits.
    • Monitors the asset quality of the commercial loan portfolio including authorizing credit and maintaining appropriate underwriting standards. Monitors and supports the loan portfolio relating to origination, billing, outstanding balances, delinquencies, charge offs, fee income, interest income and return on assets.
    • Adheres to regulatory compliance, governing documentation, record keeping, origination, collection laws and regulatory reports.
    • Correspond with Title Company, loan processors, underwriters, and realtors for real estate transactions.
    • Cross sells bank products and services

    MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s Degree - Accounting, Business and/or Finance
    • Work Experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree
    • Ten or more years of related banking experience

    MINIMUM SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Working knowledge of Word and Excel
    • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
    • Math and accounting skills

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT: Typical office environment, travel to customer’s location and branches in the region.
