    THE ROLE: The Director of Construction is responsible for the entire end to end vertical construction process for the division, leading the team to deliver on time, on budget, with the highest quality and adherence to safety and regulations. Is a member of the division senior operations team and develops the strategy and expectation for the vertical construction team. Participates as a part of the value engineer team to find ways to continuously improve by increasing quality while reducing costs.

    DAY IN THE LIFE:

    • Provides behavioral feedback in the moment, identifies opportunities for growth and development, and assigns assignments to drive performance and results.
    • Leads, manages, develops staff, across multiple projects and jurisdictions to oversee the full end to end vertical construction.
    • Assists and suggests value engineering opportunities for construction products and procedures.
    • Responsible for plan review, “redlining,” coordinating design professionals, value engineering, and budget updates at 60%, 90% plan completion through permit.
    • Ensures projects are built on budget, on time, and per the company’s quality standards.
    • Manages the start-to-close financial picture each month to facilitate the business plan’s achievement while ensuring consistent activity levels in production.
    • Ensures all established processes and systems are being adhered to and initiates new construction-related processes to enhance and improve operations.
    • Ensures all job site activities comply with the company’s established safety policies and procedures and OSHA/EPA requirements.
    • Monitors information and strategizes with teammates to identify and correct recurring or preventable problems.
    • Develop and implement regular training programs for field personnel to foster increased knowledge and growth opportunities.
    • Assists in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring positions within the company.
    • Uses leadership skills to provide effective coaching and thorough evaluations to project team members.
    • Communicates company information from the corporate office to the project team and vice versa.
    • Provides ongoing leadership, direction, support, and management to the teams involved.
    • Oversee and track construction schedules for all assigned projects working with Construction Area Managers for accuracy, accountability, and inputting the correct information.
    • Hold daily and weekly meetings with all Construction Area Managers monitoring the status, quality, budget by walking each house to ensure it is staying on schedule and in phase, provide coaching and training as needed.
    • Conduct weekly Production Meetings to increase awareness and promote company goals, which include but are not limited to, achievement of cycle times, reviewing and improving quality standards, delivering completed homes, and maximum customer satisfaction scores.
    • Oversee field operations, production times and ensure quality control so the homes built meet company standards and are ready for homeowner orientations/occupancy.
    • Oversee and ensure the successful close-out of all projects to the standards and production requirements and review the signoff checklist before closing out and turning to buyer or sales team.
    • Provide weekly reports of progress, trade partner meetings, agency contacts, problem resolution, safety meetings, Sand other reports for efficient project management and control.
    • Participate in all weekly operations meetings to represent the construction status and updates for all projects in process or upcoming.
    • Oversees overall division onsite safety of team members, contractors, trade partners, neighbors, and potential or actual buyers ensuring a safe environment; evaluates safety violations by all stakeholders and exercises judgment to take appropriate action.

    WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

    • Bachelor’s degree in construction or related field
    • 7-10 years’ experience in construction or related field
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license

    WHAT WILL SET YOU A PART:

    • Previous experience setting team goals and development.
    • Has demonstrated effectiveness coaching team members on performance, capability, and career development

    The compensation range for this role is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
