Project / Position Overview : The Colorado River District (CRD) Barn and Tack Shed were lost to the East Troublesome Wildfire in October 2020.
The Barn and Tack Shed served essential roles for both the Trails and Packing programs on the west side of the park as both relied on the buildings for storage of tools and materials as well as acting as the housing facility for the seasonal packing stock.
This project will consist of the design and construction of a replacement barn (approx. 5500 sf) and hay storage (approx.
1000 sf) facilities with associated site work and utilities. Responsibilities and Duties : Provide technical assistance and support to CO during construction.
CMR is to be familiar with all contract terms and conditions, laws, policies, and guidelines related to the tasks. Arrange, attend and facilitate a variety of meetings, including weekly meetings at the project site.
Assist in resolving disputes and document issues that may arise due to the interaction between the construction Contractor and Park staff.
Maintain all current construction documents on site at all times for review by NPS personnel as needed. Review contractor's baseline and progress schedules.
Inspect the work of the construction contractor for progress, workmanship, quality and conformance with contract documents, applicable building codes and safety standards.
Demonstrated ability to prepare draft modifications, independent government estimates, responses to requests for information, process submittals, prepare field observation reports and conduct progress meetings, prepare meeting minutes, prepare the agenda for the weekly progress conference calls.
Ensure the Quality Control Plan is in place and functioning properly. Observe daily construction activities to ensure compliance with contract plans and specifications.
Daily communication between the CRM and the COR (Contracting Officer's Representative) Conduct inspections and draft deficiency letters for COR review.
Education, Knowledge and Skills : Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field preferred. 5 years Construction Management Experience.
Minimum of OSHA 30-hour construction safety training required. Knowledge and experience with construction practices including applicable building codes, applicable safety regulations.
Knowledge and experience in standard site-built construction, new electrical service installation and construction practices including industry standards, regulations or codes, cost breakdown, estimating and negotiating, and technical writing.
Ability to read and interpret plans, schedules, and other specifications. Written and verbal communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills Knowledge of software including Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, and Primavera or equivalent scheduling software, review submittals, RFI's, and transmission of digital progress photos.
Maintain a valid driver's license. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals. Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment.
