Construction Representative, Sr. observes and inspects construction on large projects to ensure adherence to specifications, codes, and contract documents. Monitors construction of facility and ensures compliance to safety regulations. Being a Construction Representative, Sr. performs regular assessment of construction methods and project costs. Requires technical knowledge of multiple construction processes and extensive experience in a given field of inspection work. Additionally, Construction Representative, Sr. may be responsible for overseeing the work of less experienced inspectors. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Construction Representative, Sr. is a specialist on complex technical and business matters. Work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group.     POSITION SUMMARY

    The Sr. Estimator works in support of the Director of Project Management to review project documents at varying levels of design to ensure the scope of work required by the documents is accurately priced internally and by subcontractors.  


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Lead estimating efforts on civil and industrial projects.
    • Accurate and timely review of design documents to identify the required scopes of work and develop a bid for review by management.
    • Attend informational pre-bid meetings, site walks and preconstruction coordination meetings, documenting the requirements and existing conditions.
    • Develop pre-bid RFI’s when conflicts or questions are identified.
    • Track and log all documents issued during the preconstruction phase for use during contracting.
    • Distribute all required documents to bidding subcontractors and vendors.
    • Build relationships with subcontractors & vendors to encourage participation in the bidding process.
    • Be a champion of Dietzler Construction.
    • Teach and train others about products, systems, and processes.
    • Analyze historical cost for comparison to projects under pursuit.
    • Assist in project scheduling.
    • Collaborate with design teams, owners, and project management team.
    • Complete takeoffs and develop scope of work to ensure the work is accurately priced and accounted for.
    • Price materials, equipment, labor, and other requirements for misc. self-performed scopes of work.
    • Preparation of all bid documents, submittals, and proposals.

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

    • Ability to complete estimates of projects between $1 Million and $15 Million without significant additional support / management resources.
    • Proficient at the following software systems.
      • Microsoft Office Suite
      • Bid Solicitation Software
      • Bluebeam
      • HeavyBid or Comparable Civil Estimating Platform
    • Proficient with estimating techniques.
    • Excellent plan reading and specification interpretation skills.
    • The ability to work effectively in a team environment.
    • Positive professional attitude, and strong customer service skills
    • Strong initiative, communication, problem-solving skill


    EXPERIENCE

    • Required: High School Diploma
    • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree
    • 5 years of experience working in infrastructure construction estimating.
    • 3 years of construction operations experience, including exposure to trade coordination and material tracking is preferred.


    LICENSES

    • A valid state driver’s license
