Consumer Credit Manager supervises underwriting operations and oversees the loan application review process to determine loan eligibility and terms. Coordinates the day-to-day activities of the underwriting team to ensure that loan screening is conducted timely, accurately, and in compliance with all regulations. Being a Consumer Credit Manager provides loan options or product recommendations based on qualifications and keeps the team updated and informed of new products, regulations, or product changes. Assists customers through the loan process by researching and answering complex or unique customer inquiries, clarifying details, and coordinating with internal parties. Additionally, Consumer Credit Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Consumer Credit Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Consumer Credit Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Salary: $18.80 - $20.00 per hour

    This position requires the employee to utilize their experience, as loan officers to ensure the loans that are approved will ensure PFCU’s safety and soundness. It is the duty of the employee to recommend changes to policy when economic conditions deteriorate. When analyzing whether to approve a loan for our member, the Loan Officer balances the risks to the organization against serving the needs of our members while providing excellent member service.

    Essential Functions & Basic Duties

    • Review and decision loan applications for approval up to limits allowed as outlined in the current Loan Policy. Ensure compliance with all lending regulations.
    • Review and decision loans for denial using relevant credit union guidelines and procedures, while ensuring that the loan application conforms to credit union policies.
    • Review Denied, Withdrawn, and approved not Taken Loan Reports to analyze trends.
    • Provide Management with queue status reports on a monthly basis.
    • Present loans to the Assistant Lending Manager, Lending Manager or Vice President of Lending with reasons and recommendations for approval/denial.
    • Act as a liaison between the Loan and Collections departments to ensure that PFCU is exploring every viable option available when assisting members experiencing financial hardship.
    • Prepare files for review by Loan Review Committee and Board of Directors.
    • Keep abreast of current economic trends and conditions that may have an effect on PFCU’s decision-making guidelines and suggest change as necessary.
    • Recommend Loan Policy and Loan Guidelines changes with loss mitigation reasons outlined.
    • Act as a service advisor to both members and less experienced employees.
    • Coach/train loan processors as needed.
    • Serve as a backup for the Processor and Administrative positions.
    • Resolve complex Member Issues.
    • Review Loan Department Guidelines quarterly to ensure they are up to date and reflect the current Loan Policy.
    • Review applications data for fraud prevention, using tools such as Accurint, and work with Loss Prevention as needed.
    • Monitor application queues to ensure 30-day compliance on decisions.
    • Monitor queues to ensure fair distribution of applications to processors.
    • Complete periodic training/certification for, but not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Lending Regulations.
    • Contribute to the team effort by performing other duties as required.
    • Basic knowledge of all PFCU products and services.
    • Knowledge of Symitar and Akcelerant systems.
    • Basic Knowledge of Accurint Software.
    • Advanced knowledge of the various rules and regulations governing loan services including, but not limited to, (Reg. B, Reg. Z, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Reg. C, ECOA, RESPA & Fair Housing Act).

    Qualifications

    • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
    • Employee must register with the NMLS Registry as required by the S.A.F.E. Act.
    • Previous financial and or member service experience is desired.
    • PC proficiency required, experience with Microsoft Word preferred.
    • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
    • Must be attentive and detailed oriented.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Ability to read and interpret credit reports.
