Consumer Credit Manager supervises underwriting operations and oversees the loan application review process to determine loan eligibility and terms. Coordinates the day-to-day activities of the underwriting team to ensure that loan screening is conducted timely, accurately, and in compliance with all regulations. Being a Consumer Credit Manager provides loan options or product recommendations based on qualifications and keeps the team updated and informed of new products, regulations, or product changes. Assists customers through the loan process by researching and answering complex or unique customer inquiries, clarifying details, and coordinating with internal parties. Additionally, Consumer Credit Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Consumer Credit Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Consumer Credit Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Responsible for organizing, planning, directing, and controlling all operations of the Member Solutions Department. Oversees all collections functions including the control of loan and credit accounts that are late, potentially delinquent, delinquent, or charged off. Assists in the resolution of difficult and complex member account situations. Responsible for collateral, repossessions, and the disposition of repossessed Credit Union assets. Performs periodic evaluation of collections policies and procedures and modifies as needed. Ensures that established policies, procedures, and legal requirements are followed. Coordinates activities, ensuring that all subordinate areas of responsibility support Credit Union objectives. Trains, directs, and appraises personnel. Ensures that services are delivered professionally and efficiently.

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

    Assumes responsibility for the development and implementation of Member Solutions Department policies, procedures, and planning.
    Assumes responsibility for the effective and efficient administration and performance of Collections functions.
    Assumes responsibility for ensuring that professional business relationships are established and maintained with the members, the community, and with trade and governmental organizations.
    Effectively supervises Department personnel, ensuring optimal performance.

    NON-ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
    Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with Credit Union personnel and with management.
    Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Education/Certification:

    Equivalent to a two-year business-related college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school

    Required Knowledge:

    Thorough knowledge of collections, servicing, foreclosure, bankruptcy procedures, and legal requirements.
    Understanding of the Credit Union lending programs, policies, and default enforcement clauses.

    Experience Required:

    Five to seven years of progressive credit union collections experience.
    Three to five years of supervisory experience required.
    Minimum one year small claims experience required.
    Skills/Abilities:

    Excellent communication and public relations skills.
    Ability to work in stressful, high-pressure situations.
    Solid analytical and negotiating skills.
    Strong leadership and supervisory abilities.
    Strong management skills.
    Able to operate computer calculations and other basic business equipment.
    Strong decision-making skills.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    Education/Certification: Equivalent to a four-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school.
    Preferred Knowledge: None.
    Experience Preferred:
    Minimum five years of progressive collections experience.
    Three to five years of supervisory experience required.
    Minimum one year small claims court experience.
    Skills/Abilities: None.
    PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

    TALKING: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
    REPETITIVE MOTIONS: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
    AVERAGE HEARING: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
    AVERAGE VISUAL ABILITIES: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery.
    PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally. (Almost all office jobs.)
