As a Consumer Loan Specialist you'll have both consumer loan processing and consumer loan officer responsibilities. In this role you're responsible for the credit union recapture program through heavy out-bound Member contact. The successful associate must continually look for opportunities to strategize with Members with loan payoffs to develop methods to keep their loan with the Credit Union. Prepares, tracks, and utilizes various reports to identify potential opportunities to recapture Member loans, accepts credit applications, and proactively follows up on loan approvals to ensure funding.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Executes telephone marketing to establish and qualify clients/prospects in a rapid paced environment.
- Prepares and utilizes various member payoff tracking reports to establish contact lists. Contacts members that have requested loan pay off quotes and develop methods to keep their loan with the credit union, utilizing effective sales techniques.
- Will assist loan officers when additional information/ documentation are needed in order to make a loan decision.
- Informs members of their loan decision. If the loan is a decline counsels members on ways to improve their credit profile for future loan approvals. Follows up on members who have been approved for a loan(s) and works with other departmental team associates to ensure that member’s loan(s) have been funded.
- Assists processing consumer loan applications when needed (auto, motorcycle, Line of credit, personal unsecured loans, RV, etc.) and interviews the member for loans. Is responsible for the completeness and accuracy of applications prior to referring the request to a loan officer for review.
- May assist in collecting proof of income/tax returns and has the ability to calculate paystubs/tax returns to ensure debt ratio is within lending guidelines
- Disburses loans when needed, checking that all documents have been properly signed and the member is aware of their responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school education or equivalent.
- One to Three years relevant consumer lending experience including auto loans
- Working knowledge of reading Experian and Equifax credit reports.
- Proficient in Excel to create spreadsheets to track work flow.
- Must possess advanced written & oral communication skills and etiquette appropriate with higher level member interactions.
- Computer knowledge and proficiency normally expected in professional environment including Microsoft programs, Outlook scheduling, and the ability to navigate effectively on the internet
- Ability to accurately perform mathematical calculations.
- Ability to interface with others in a positive and professional manner.
- Requires good memory and knowledge retention skills.
- Final offers are based on experience, qualifications, internal equity. The hourly pay range for the Consumer Loan Specialist is $23.00 - $26.00.
