Consumer Loan Officer develops and services consumer loans. Interviews loan applicants to determine financing needs and to offer the appropriate loan products and repayment arrangements. Being a Consumer Loan Officer evaluates loan applications and applicant creditworthiness. Once a loan is approved and negotiated, monitors loan payments, and provides customer service to ensure the borrower's questions are answered and needs are met, and that the loan is repaid appropriately. Additionally, Consumer Loan Officer maintains accurate and thorough records, and follows all applicable organizational, state, and federal policies and regulations. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Consumer Loan Officer works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.     A Consumer Loan Processor is primarily responsible for preparing loan documentation and funding of all consumer loans as well as being responsible for providing loan support in a centralized environment.

     

    Measures of Success

    1. Be a trusted advisor to Consumer Loan Officers and Retail Staff.
    2. Knowledge and confidence when using the designated loan program.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Prepare consumer loan documentation and funding of loans, for all locations.
    2. Provide loan support for Consumer Underwriters, Consumer Loans Officers and Retail Staff.
    3. Review and process dealer contracts, by assuring the needed paperwork is present.
    4. Create Customer Information Profile (CIF’s), as needed.
    5. Prepare and scan loan files and other miscellaneous correspondence.
    6. Prioritize and efficiently organize work assignments, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and promote teamwork.
    7. Responsible to promote a positive and collaborative environment that supports teamwork and excellent customer service throughout the organization.
    8. Responsible for promoting the organization in the community through participation in various civic and community events, activities, committees, and organizations.
    9. Must maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism regarding all employee and customer issues and information.
    10. Contribute to the overall success of the organization.
    11. Adhere to all banking rules and regulations, including but not limited to the requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act.  In addition, the employee will be proactive in the prevention of illegal activities, will vigilantly look for activities that may constitute any type of fraud including money laundering, and will report any suspicious activity to the BSA Officer.

     

    Qualifications

    1. High School Diploma or equivalent of 1-2 years of post-secondary education preferred
    2. 1-3 years of banking experience or customer service experience
    3. Strong teamwork and collaborative skills
    4. Self-starter
