About the Opportunity

The QA Manager supports the Product team to lead and manage the QA and support team, ensuring delivery of a world-class user experience for our clients and donors. You would work closely with the engineering team to ensure on-time delivery of well-tested features and enhancements, keep bugs introduced into the system at a minimum, assist with developing documentation, and help us optimize our shipping processes. Additionally, you would lead the initiative to develop a test automation framework for our organization to increase the efficiency and quality of testing our product. 

What does success look like?

1. Develop metrics for the QA team that improve quality and align with team and organizational goals
2. Manage processes and weekly productivity of QA team members
3. Provide mentorship and coaching to team members through regular 1:1s, team meetings, and proactive feedback and accountability
4. Develop a test automation framework that increases capacity for QA team members and adds testing efficiency
5. Ensure reduction in regressions and prevent critical issues that require hotfixes to production (we call these out-of-cycles)
6. Lead and implement communication standards and behaviors for maintaining client satisfaction through support channels
7. Effectively communicate with cross-functional teams and ensure the same of other team members in the support role
8. Proactively find opportunities optimize testing and shipping procedures

What challenges can you expect?

1. This is a new role, while there is lots of opportunity there are also no established metrics which could be challenging
2. Current testing procedures are mostly manual, testing is time intensive and we’ve got a busy engineering team!
3. There is a lot to learn; the overall platform has a deep feature set and you will need knowledge in a little bit of everything to be successful
4. Technical documentation is very limited and will require active pursuit of system knowledge

What do you need to qualify for this role?

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

• Strong leadership and management experience
• Thorough, detail-oriented approach to problem solving
• Not afraid to challenge the status quo and proactively present suggestions to improve processes
• Experience with managing the software development lifecycle and the role QA plays in that

Things that will help you stand out:

• Experience with managing and developing team members
• Experience with test automation frameworks like Playwright
• Experience in testing mobile applications
• General knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript
• Experience with PHP, MySQL, and/or React.js
• Experience with unit testing or continuous integration
