    Purpose

    As a core member of the Texas Engineering Executive Education (TxEEE) leadership team, the Assistant Director of Continuing Engineering Education oversees both credit (academic) and non-credit professional education programs within the organization. This includes managing and growing the Cockrell School of Engineering's Option III Engineering Master's degree programs. The foci of this both strategic and operational position are to identify and engage the relevant Cockrell School of Engineering (CSE) and TxEEE constituents and resources in developing innovative, scalable, and profitable training and educational programs that address current and emerging engineering and engineering related workforce development needs. As such, this position oversees efforts to sustain and expand a portfolio of profitable, market-relevant credit and non-credit continuing engineering education (CEE) courses and programs.

    Responsibilities

    Portfolio level:
    • Oversees the daily operations and activities of both TxEEE's (1) Signature Professional Master's in Engineering (PME) programs and (2) Engineering Professional Development (EPD) non-credit programs portfolios, including PETEX branded programming.

    • Works with TxEEE leadership, CSE faculty, CSE staff, and industry representatives in leading the development and management of a CEE programmatic roadmap and portfolio, including identifying appropriate format(s) and delivery method(s) for topics/content. Assesses potential markets and evaluates viability, based on business intelligence and in close collaboration with the Directors of Strategic Partnerships and Programs and Marketing, for new topics or programs and investigates new programmatic and credentialing directions and pathways.

    • Works both strategically and tactically to identify ways to increase enrollments for all CEE programs. Works collaboratively with the marketing staff and TxEEE leadership to create, review, and optimize enrollment marketing strategies and tactics.

    • Manages unit budget(s) in collaboration with the Executive Director and Finance Manager, including providing annual enrollment projections. Performs cost and productivity analysis and formulates strategies for funding. Responsible for monitoring and adhering to individual and portfolio level program budgets.

    • Recruits, manages, trains, and evaluates assigned staff by providing guidance, mentoring and direction to reach strategic and operational goals and objectives. Conducts performance evaluations and sets performance expectations. Participates in professional development for self and advocates and supports professional development for unit staff. Serves as backup/stand-in for in-person or online course delivery when necessary.

    • Collaborates with TxEEE leadership in strengthening alumni relationships and engagement, and actively works to increase CSE awareness through workstream and programmatic integration in alignment with CSE goals.

    • Establishes and analyzes feedback mechanisms to monitor and ensure receipt of customer/stakeholder feedback. Identifies and implements new methods or mechanisms when appropriate.

    Professional Master's in Engineering (PME) programs:
    • Works with TxEEE leadership and PME program (academic) directors in developing and executing operational guidelines, standards, and priorities. Manages unit work content and processes/procedures to ensure positive and profitable results. Plans, implements, and monitors compliance with applicable policies and procedures. Defines and oversees unit KPI's and the preparation of reports and analysis to improve processes and outcomes.

    • Responsible for coordinating with the Graduate Program Coordinators to deliver onsite and/or online information sessions to promote and market PME programs.

    Engineering Professional Development (EPD) non-credit programs and initiatives:
    • Oversees operations and logistics, in collaboration with TxEEE leadership, industry, and CSE faculty & staff to create proposals for custom EPD courses and engagements (e.g., conferences), including contract and vendor negotiations and administration.

    • Work with TxEEE leadership, industry, and CSE faculty & staff to promote EPD programs.

    Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in relevant field and five years of applicable program management experience.

    • Experience managing continuing education programs.

    • Proven competency in developing and leading complex collaborations between companies and institutions of higher education or governmental agencies.

    • Demonstrated capability of simultaneously planning and managing multiple projects at different stages of execution.

    • Proven ability to execute business development initiatives.

    • Demonstrated ability to effectively enable strong collaboration and teamwork among a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

    • Displays advanced relationship management, social and professional etiquette skills.

    Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Graduate degree preferred.

    • Experience working with or managing executive or non-traditional master's degree programs or developing custom knowledge-based solutions.

    • Expansive network of industry relationships in STEM fields.

    • Active engagement in analyzing or evaluating the future of technology and engineering to anticipate or identify trends, shifts, and new growth topics.

    • Demonstrated experience managing and supporting a team cross-functional staff, including performance coaching, feedback and evaluation, and clear communication of expectations.

    • Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) or other applicable certification.

    Salary Range

    $85,000 depending on qualifications.
