    Summary Statement

    This year round position will assist with the maintenance of DNREC's statewide ambient air monitoring network which includes:� demonstration of the causes of malfunctions in measuring, analyzing or processing instrumentation of analog or digital design; repairs or replaces defective circuit boards and modules; replaces defective integrated circuit chips and electronic elements; repairs and performs preventive maintenance on electro-mechanical systems; calibrates instrumentation and test equipment; modifies instrumentation as required; requisitions parts and supplies; and keeps records of work performed and parts used.

    Essential Functions

    Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class. Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here. Provides technical support in studies, surveys, inspections and research projects. Collects field samples and data. Provides technical information and assistance to the public and the regulated community. Interprets rules and regulations for assigned area. Reviews permit applications and supplemental paperwork for approval or recommendation for disapproval. Operates and maintains vehicles, boats and sampling equipment. Maintains accurate records and prepares reports. May assist in processing biological samples.

    Job Requirements

    JOB REQUIREMENTS for�Environmental Control Technician III� Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:� Six months experience in conducting field work to collect environmental or ecological samples and survey data. Six months experience in analyzing and evaluating data. Six months experience in math such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, or decimals. Six months experience in interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures. Six months experience in narrative report writing. Six months experience in using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data. Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
