How you’ll contribute The Senior Corporate Compliance Director reports to the Chief Compliance Officer and is the primary Compliance professional supporting the Commercial organization, inclusive of Sales, Marketing, Commercial Training and Development, as well as Medical Affairs. The Senior Corporate Compliance Director will support the functional leadership teams and be responsible for providing strategic and tactical Compliance support, including the provision of compliance guidance; delivering impactful, role-based training; conducting monitoring; and creating compliance-related policies, procedures and resources. OVERSIGHT & RESPONSIBILITY Serve as the senior Compliance business partner and subject matter expert within the Commercial and Medical Affairs functions at United Therapeutics Drive the implementation and on-going maintenance of the Compliance strategy for UT's Commercial and Medical Affairs functions, to ensure alignment to the UT Corporate Compliance strategy Provide strategic direction and leadership on complex Compliance issues, including oversight and support to ensure guidance is integrated into business operations and implemented appropriately Establish and maintain dialogue with functional leadership teams and other stakeholders to effectively communicate, guide and coach on compliance program developments Promote a proactive approach to Compliance that is focused on partnerships, prevention, and risk mitigation Identify and respond to compliance issues and questions in a thoughtful, solutions-oriented and timely manner in alignment with Company policies Participate on the Company's Grants Review Committee POLICIES & PROCEDURES Lead the development, revision and implementation of Compliance policies and procedures related to the Commercial and Medical Affairs functions Create policy and procedure-based resources to support and be leveraged by Commercial and Medical Affairs Support compliance review and approval processes related to the Marketing and Sales activities (e.g., speaker programs, advisory boards, exhibits) and ensure alignment with policies TRAINING & COMMUNICATION Lead development and execution of annual training and communication strategy for the Compliance Department Develop and deliver engaging, role-specific Compliance trainings Communicate directly and proactively with clients to support business needs and develop relationships with key stakeholders MONITORING & AUDITING Conduct live compliance monitoring activities with on-going measurement, tracking and reporting for the Commercial functions and Medical Affairs functions Assist with compliance audits related to Commercial and Medical Affairs activities, including working with stakeholders to ensure any necessary corrective action is implemented in a timely fashion. Leverage monitoring and auditing data to identify trends to present to functional leadership, along with coaching and recommendations to address non-compliant trends (training, investigation, corrective action, etc.) RISK ASSESSMENT Responsible for risk mitigation activities as set forth in annual Compliance Risk Assessment and Mitigation plan related to Commercial and Medical Affairs Departments, as well as appropriate follow-up and close-out of compliance issues identified per Compliance monitoring and auditing activities OTHER Actively foster stakeholder engagement through meaningful and intentional cross-functional business partnerships (attend all sales and marketing field meetings, participate in field ride along, etc.) Raise awareness of the Compliance program and foster department and org-wide accountability for compliance Assist with Compliance investigations related to the Commercial and Medical Affairs organizations. All other duties as assigned For this role you will need Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, life sciences or healthcare; with 15 years of experience in a Compliance role within the life sciences industry: pharmaceutical, medical device or biotech Master’s Degree in business, finance, life sciences or healthcare; with 10 years of experience in a Compliance role within the life sciences industry: pharmaceutical, medical device or biotech 6 years of experience in a Compliance role supporting Commercial and/or Medical Affairs Life sciences background: pharmaceutical, medical device or biotech Ability to build strong, professional relationships with internal stakeholders Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating flexibility, commitment to teamwork, and a willingness to adapt assignments to meet the Company's needs Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory/compliance requirements, including the Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, Sunshine Act and other healthcare laws and regulations Acts with a sense of urgency, with high motivation and ability to take initiative, follow through and complete projects in a professional and expeditious manner Strong presentation skills, including the creation and delivering presentations to various size audiences at all levels of the organization Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills Strong attention to detail and accuracy Strong collaborative, interpersonal and oral communication skills Excellent written communication skills, including robust and advanced documentation practices Microsoft Office Proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint Handles confidential matters with discretion and solid judgment Produces high quality work with minimal oversight from manager Position will be located out of our RTP, NC location Preferred Qualifications 3 years of experience in a leadership/management role Experience working with or directly supporting medical affairs and/or clinical operations in the life sciences industry At United Therapeutics, you’ll realize quickly that it is not an ordinary place to work!
