Corporate Compliance Director manages the compliance programs, policies, reporting, and practices for an organization or business. Ensures that all activities follow regulatory requirements related to the governance of the organization as well as any industry-specific or location-specific laws. Being a Corporate Compliance Director oversees internal controls and auditing systems that monitor and report on regulated activities and processes. Implements risk-based compliance testing of existing procedures and controls to identify, detect, and correct noncompliance. Additionally, Corporate Compliance Director evaluates and implements changes to compliance processes due to new or amended regulations. Delivers communication and training initiatives that inform stakeholders about compliance requirements. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Corporate Compliance Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Corporate Compliance Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Position overview

    The Tax and Compliance Accountant compiles, analyzes, and reports to governmental agencies on all tax matters related to personal, secured property taxes, sales and use tax, IRP and fuel returns. Collaborating with Corporate Controller to set up control systems and manage company financial records.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Examining tax regulations, gathering data and complying with all regulations
    • Provides management with tax information by researching and analyzing costs
    • Responsible for review and filing of tax returns/payments, including but not limited to personal, secured property, sales, use and diesel tax
    • Create monthly reporting and accruals for all types of taxes
    • Identifies solutions to discrepancies in financial records
    • Prepares monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial tax provision
    • Audit company purchases for accurate tax treatment and accrue appropriately
    • Maintain and report leases in Lease Query related to ASC842 reporting
    • Oversight of intercompany transactions and reconciliations, including eliminations
    • Preparation of periodic Census reporting
    • Preparation of prequalification reporting as required by operations
    • Proven track record of successful timely and accurate filings
    • Supervision of cash accountant
    • Good leadership and communication skills and deep knowledge about the financial aspects of a company
    • Works with the accounting team to create internal controls and policies
    • Ensures all accounting practices are in compliance with legal guidelines and established accounting principles
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications 

    • Expert knowledge of accounting and financial principles, regulations and best practices
    • Complete understanding of GAAP in a manufacturing environment
    • Excellent understanding of governmental guidelines, tax laws that affect the company
    • Display a high level of organization and prioritization for tasks at hand
    • Demonstrates flexibility to effectively deal with changing priorities and timelines through analytical problem solving
    • Proven time management and follow-through skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks with tight deadlines
    • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team-oriented environment
    • Responsible to enhance and design reports that meet analysis for compliance with tax guidelines
    • Display superior written and oral communication skills and effective listening skills
    • Maintain a tactful, mature and professional demeanor with well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with diverse personnel

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field or equivalent experience
    • 5 years of progressive accounting experience with a strong knowledge of tax regulation
    • Supervisory Experience
    • CPA or CMA a plus
    • High Volume environment
    • Experience with Power BI, Vena Software and integrated tax software
    • Experience Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams

    Work Environment

    • Works normal business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday most of the time.
    • Extends working hours into evenings and weekends during seasonal busy times.
    • Spends time in a climate controlled office setting looking a computer screens and keyboarding.
    • Attends budget meetings and other financial meetings on a regular basis.

    Continuing Education Requirements

    Pavement Recycling Systems strongly supports and encourages personal and professional development by providing company paid continuing education opportunities relevant to the business objectives of each position. Continuing education delivery methods include live seminars, webinars, on demand webinars, self-study courses, professional and user conferences as well as other approved opportunities.

    The continuing education expectation for this position is 40 hours per year.
