Corporate Compliance Director manages the compliance programs, policies, reporting, and practices for an organization or business. Ensures that all activities follow regulatory requirements related to the governance of the organization as well as any industry-specific or location-specific laws. Being a Corporate Compliance Director oversees internal controls and auditing systems that monitor and report on regulated activities and processes. Implements risk-based compliance testing of existing procedures and controls to identify, detect, and correct noncompliance. Additionally, Corporate Compliance Director evaluates and implements changes to compliance processes due to new or amended regulations. Delivers communication and training initiatives that inform stakeholders about compliance requirements. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Corporate Compliance Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Corporate Compliance Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     About the team:

    The ChexSystems Compliance Operations team is responsible for conducting compliance related audits and outreaches. These outreaches currently consist of transaction verification audits, third party audit requests, reseller audits, compliance certifications, furnisher monitoring related to consumer disputes, data contribution, adverse action notices, and credentialing. In this position, you will provide support in managing the workload for the team/processes and assisting with monitoring and reviewing regulatory changes as well as applicable laws and regulations with a specific focus on the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act.

    About the role:
    Serve as the ChexSystems Compliance Officer and track, review and communicate pending and passed regulations, agency guidelines or directives that would impact a specialty reporting agency and set priorities for regulatory issues that must be addressed by the business.

    What you will be doing?

    Monitors and communicates regulatory changes that impact consumer reporting agency line of business products, services and business activities.

    Establishes operational objectives and work plans for self and team.

    Manages a team of compliance professionals.

    Develops, modifies and executes company and compliance program and policies that affect immediate operations.

    Responds to issues and matters pertaining to regulatory compliance of consumer reporting agency products, services and business activities.

    Performs periodic reviews and evaluations of ChexSystems products, services and business activities to validate compliance with applicable laws and regulations or detect regulatory violations, weak controls or other potential areas of exposure.

    Assists in providing final disposition of any discrepancies regarding compliance issues.

    Ensures strategic objectives of the Compliance & Ethics Program are met, including execution of risk assessment activities, coordination of risk response and program testing and validation.

    Identifies key business processes, performs evaluations of risk, assesses the effectiveness of controls and promotes improvement across the organization through the deployment of risk response activities.

    Designs and deploys processes to validate ChexSystems products, services and business activities meet all applicable regulatory requirements.

    Participates in corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs and people.

    Creates and delivers internal and external regulatory compliance training.

    Develops and motivates staff.

    Performs compliance control mapping.

    Provides compliance requirements and guidance to the line of business as needed.

    Maintains knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.

    Offers guidance on implementing regulatory changes.

    Communicates detailed requirements to line of business, validate solution approach and monitor status.

    Provides compliance reviews and direction for new and expanding products and services.

    Conducts compliance assessments and provides direction on any deficiencies detected by those assessments.

    Monitors line of business compliance activities to verify that regulatory compliance deadlines and requirements are met.

    Participates in training promoting compliance awareness.

    Identifies areas of potential improvement.

    Responsible for facilitating the consumer reporting agency Compliance Committee.

    Provides regular reports for the consumer reporting agency Board of Directors.

    Oversee and manage document productions to federal, state, and local agencies, as needed.

    Interfaces with legal counsel and federal, state, and local agencies, as needed to address regulatory or compliance issues, concerns or questions.

    Manage federal, state, and local agency document productions to verify completeness and accuracy.

    Drafts federal, state, and local agency information request responses.

    Assists the business with responses to customer compliance-specific questions and concerns.

    Prepares and approves internal and customer communications covering compliance issues (bulletins, position statements, monthly reports, etc.)

    What you will need:

    College Degree highly encouraged; Juris Doctorate preferred.

    Ability to multitask and manage multiple high compliance and risk projects efficiently in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

    Above average ability to communicate ideas both verbally and in written form in a clear, concise, and professional manner

    Comprehensive knowledge of the Fair Credit Reporting Act, California Consumer Rights Act, and similar consumer data laws

    Excellent analytical skills

    Excellent project management skills

    Ability to understand technical documents and legal or regulatory reference materials

    Ability to understand and apply learned concepts

    Demonstrated ability to plan and complete work within tight time limitations

    Ability to apply creative problem solving techniques and tools to complex compliance issues

    Ability to follow and conduct a compliance monitoring program for a directly regulated entity

    Ability to provide information to a variety of audiences and deal effectively with confidential issues that are sensitive in nature

    Ability to share information with awareness of its effect on others
