    POSITION OVERVIEW

    On behalf of the John Jay College Foundation, Inc., the Office of Institutional Advancement (OIA) secures sustainable philanthropy, builds transformational relationships, and advances powering partnerships in alignment with John Jay College of Criminal Justice’s mission, vision, and values.     Reporting to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement, the Director of Foundation and Corporate Relations (DFCR), will inspire the Foundation and Corporate Relations team with visionary leadership, create a comprehensive program to secure transformational support for the College’s top priorities, and develop strategy plan for a robust pipeline of donors and prospects. Our Foundation and Corporate Relations area represents the largest current funding source within the John Jay College Foundation, Inc., and, therefore, it is a significant opportunity forgrowth. Withcurrently two direct reports, the DFCR will lead, guide, and partner with the Associate Director of Foundation and Corporate Relations (ADFCR) and Grants Writer/Administrator to build philanthropic relationships and implement a strategic and tactical plan to successfully identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors/prospects and compellingly report on contributions. The DFCR willmanagea portfolio of local and national corporations, foundations, and government agencies that have the capacity, affinity, and inclination to support the College. Equally important, the DFCR will serve as a subject matter expert on foundation and corporate relations,implement national trends as appropriate, and regularly partner with campus departments/units to further cement a culture of philanthropy, ensure grants compliance, and accelerate the success of priorities and student learning communities through fiscal sustainability.

    Specific responsibilities include:

    • Develop a comprehensive program and plan with tactics, key performance indicators, and metrics to build transformational relationships that result in transformational giving

    • Serve as a visionary leader in overseeing this area’s primary functions of cultivation, concept and proposal development, solicitation, stewardship, reporting and grants/gifts compliance—in consultation with the Vice President of Institutional Advancement

    • Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward existing donors and prospects from foundation, corporate, and government funding sources to fuel the College’s mission, vision, values, and top priorities of student success and faculty advancement

    • Oversee a portfolio of donors and prospects and secure major gifts starting at a minimum of $100,000 through the development of compelling proposals, letters of inquiries, and applications

    • Develop briefings and materials for donor and/or prospect meetings

    • Serve as the Foundation and Corporate Relations chief collaborator across the College to advise faculty, administrative leaders, and programmatic staff onphilanthropic opportunities and successful implementation of grants/gifts

    • Serve as an expert in philanthropic trends and best practices for Foundation and Corporate Relations

    • Supervise staff and provide motivational leadership, coaching, and mentoring

    • Meet individual and team annual fundraising goals and track fundraising activity in Raiser’s Edge

    Until further notice, this is a hybrid position, eligible to work remotely and work in the office, and this position is based in New York, NY.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor's Degree and eight years' related experience required.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Demonstrate successful foundation fundraising experience, preferably in a complex organization.

    • Track record of success in building relationships with funding partners.

    • Exhibit success in the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies and techniques, particularly in foundation fundraising.

    • Showcase ability in the identification and qualification of foundation and corporate prospects, including the methods and best practices for obtaining information about their giving programs.

    • Demonstrate success in developing and writing proposals inclusive of budgets for foundation and corporate prospects.

    • Knowledge of corporate fundraising, including corporate foundation fundraising and sponsorships and partnerships.

    • Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, and organizational skills.

    • Excellent communication ability, both verbally and in writing.

    • Proficiency with MS Officesuite and Constituent Management Database

    • Designs, develops and oversees strategic program to secure corporate and foundation funding for various College initiatives
