    Founded in 2018, US Strategic Metals ("USSM") is a rapidly growing start-up and plays a key role in the domestic energy transition to electric vehicles. As the only vertically integrated producer of Cobalt, Nickel, Lithium, and Copper in the United States, USSM is strategically positioned to supply clean, domestic, and ethically sourced battery metals for lithium-ion batteries, which power electric vehicles and consumer electronics. Specifically, our team focuses on extracting, recycling, and processing strategic metals for use in the high-performance battery market. USSM owns a historic mine in Fredericktown, Missouri, and is building a hydrometallurgical processing facility with the ability to convert both mined minerals and recycled battery material into salable battery metals.     Responsibilities:

    • The Corporate Accountant is a key team member of the US Strategic Metals (USSM) Accounting Department and will be responsible for performing monthly close processes, loan compliance, audit support, execution of internal controls, and other responsibilities as assigned. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Corporate Controller, this role offers a unique opportunity to be exposed to a wide variety of topics and challenges associated with the rapid growth of our company and the maturation of the accounting function. The ideal candidate will be excited about our mission to become the leading player in the North American battery materials supply chain. The ideal prospect will play a key role in building an accounting function capable of supporting our unique company's future.
    • Ensure the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
    • Drive efficiencies in the month-end close process, supported by comprehensive account reconciliations and coordination of accounting staff.
    • Prepare key internal controls.
    • Perform complex accounting (revenue, lease, debt, equity transactions)
    • Perform analytical procedures over the general ledger.
    • Assists with the development and implementation of process improvements and optimizations.
    • Supports the requirements of internal and external audits and regulatory requirements.
    • Assists with loan compliance and accounting and a variety of projects as needed.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; master’s preferred.
    • CPA preferred.
    • 0-2 years of experience in public accounting or corporate accounting.
    • High degree of business curiosity; quick learner and self-starter.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to interact with colleagues at all levels.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, unstructured environment.
    • Strong desire to grow professionally.
