The Village of McFarland has an immediate opening for the Finance Manager/Treasurer position within the Administration Department.

The Finance Manager/Treasurer plays a crucial role in the financial management of the Village and will work closely with the Administrator and Deputy Administrator to develop and implement financial strategies and assist in oversight of financial operations.

The position also collaborates with other departments to provide guidance in monitoring budgets and ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures. Major responsibilities include:

• Assisting in budget development as well as continued monitoring of the annual budget.
• Assisting in forecasting operational and capital expenses, maintenance and reconciliation of all financial accounts and records.
• Coordinating the accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
• Assisting with the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
• Conducting year-end closeout activities leading the independent audit firm on the annual financial audit and conducting year-end close out activities.
• Maintaining the accounting system for all Village funds. Reviewing, analyzing, and balancing all accounts on a monthly basis and preparing journal entries as appropriate.
• Fulfilling the statutory responsibilities of the Treasurer.

This is an exempt position with a starting annual pay range of $74,194 to $100,161 (depending on qualifications) with an excellent benefit package, including health insurance, participation in Wisconsin Retirement System, ample paid time off and much more.

The hours for the position are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the ability to attend meetings or events in the evening or on weekends as needed. Successful completion of a background check is required for this position.

The qualified candidate will possess the following education and experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, financial management, public administration or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 4 to 6 years’ experience in finance and accounting roles.
• Any combination of education and experience which in the sole discretion of the Village would demonstrate the ability to meet the required knowledge, skills and abilities for the position may also be considered.
