Correctional Officer enforces rules and regulations in a prison, jail or other holding facility. Presides over prisoners awaiting trial or those who have been convicted of a crime. Being a Correctional Officer oversees prisoner conduct and safety. Supervises prisoners during meals, recreation, work and other daily activities. Additionally, Correctional Officer documents violations and takes appropriate disciplinary actions. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Correctional Officer possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is offering a $2,500 recruitment incentive after successful completion of the required training period. $1,000 is paid after completion of training, generally lasting twelve to sixteen weeks. The additional $1,500 will be paid eight weeks after the completion of training. Then, to reward your commitment to the department and community, employees are eligible for a $500/month retention incentive following 6 months of employment, subject to attendance criteria.Responsibilities include supervision and control of inmates within the housing units, corridors and work areas at the Calhoun County Correctional Center. Enforces rules of conduct, assists in averting riots and escapes through routine inspections.- High School Diploma or GED
- No Felony convictions
- Must possess a valid Michigan Driver's License
- Must be a US Citizen

Interview Process
Pass oral interview, background investigation, drug screening, medical and psychological evaluations.
